Maybe the most apt description of a marriage is that it isn't beautiful and it won't be peaceful.
You could know your partner inside and out but they can still hide secrets from you that you could either find peace in never finding out or wait for them to find their way to reveal whatever it is to you.
Alam ni Louise ang lahat nang yun but she was also afflicted with the natural need to always know what's wrong and see whether there is anything she could do about it.
These past days, that curiosity has increased over the fact that Enzo seems to be more and more introspective and has been escaping within himself much too frequently than she liked.
It felt akin to being with a robot who was as cold as steel but looked and talked like her husband.
On top of this, anxiety was eating away at her heart because the last she had seen him like this was when he was struggling to look for a job because RJ had exerted his influence to avenge himself on the guy. Enzo didn't want to burden her and had hidden the fact that he had resorted to working odd jobs just to support the two of them.
She already tried to talk him into letting her know what has been bothering him but was met with a wall that she hadn't seen in years.
He brushed off every attempt she has made thereafter but she was not going to give up.
However, she did ease off the "attacks" muna the past days.
Iniisip niya na she might be able to catch her husband when his guard is down and he could spill all of his heart's concerns to her.
"Late ka ba makakauwi ulit ngayong gabi?" she asked as she prepared his lunch.
"Depende" he answered, busy looking at the mirror to make sure not a hair is out of place "Tatawagan kita agad."
Plano niya na ipagluto ito nang paborito nito ngayong gabi at bumili nang beer cans so they could just unwind after dinner. Dadalhin muna niya ang anak nila sa Mommy niya just to look after their baby for the night so there won't be distractions.
"Sana makauwi ka kahit around 8 mamaya" she put just enough pleading in her tone "Hindi pa tayo nagkakasabay nang dinner lately. Sobrang subsub ka sa work. I miss having someone to talk to habang kumakain."
Enzo managed to look guilty. "Sorry."
"Don't be" she answered solemnly "pero please umuwi ka at around 8 para makabawi ka sa akin. I understand how important your projects are pero at least for tonight lang. Please?"
A slow reluctant smile lit his handsome face up and Louise felt the nerves around her heart being twisted in knots. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY BE WRONG WITH HIM?
"I'll do my best" he answered "Basta tatawagan kita agad, I promise."
She smiled back at him then. "Excited na ako!"
"Based si Patring si London, I'm familiar with all possible stops you can have at saka how long your flight is. Bakit ba kase ayaw mo pa sabihin sa akin ano ang plane na sasakyan mo?" Maine told RJ over the phone.
"Sabi ko nga sa'yo, hindi mo na ako kailangan i-monitor. Besides, kalahati nung flight naman I would most probably just be sleeping."
"E hindi naman ikaw ang dahilan why I would be staying up for most of the night e. May hinahabol akong deadline. Wala namang masama if I check on you and your plane every now and then diba? Since gising na din naman ako" she defended.
