What is worse than murdering someone?

It is confusing them.

Hindi alam ni Maine what RJ Faulkerson was playing at but all in one day, he was both her greatest savior and worst enemy.

She alternated between feeling like she wanted to hug him or wanting to chuck the life out of him.

He was infuriating at best.

"You have a week and six days to decide Ms. Mendoza" was his parting shot nang ihatid siya nito sa Bulacan.

It took her a moment for the statement to fully sink in until he raised a brow at her and doon niya naintindihan that what he was talking about was her decision to continue writing Gab's story or not.

She had not expected it at all after the show he put on in front of her friends.

Kung nasa loob siya nang sasakyan e malamang hinampas na niya ito but she was already opening the gate to their house and he had sped away as soon as he made sure she understood what he meant.

Sasabog ang utak niya kakaisip and she remembered that that was what he liked.

RJ said it himself kaninang umaga – "It's not good for my business if my enemies can easily understand me."

So therefore, she will try to break his personality down because she liked challenges.

At dahil sadyang gawain niya ata ang mag-take on nang mga imposibleng bagay.

She tossed in her bed, unable to sleep, and thought of the Faulkerson heir.

Kilalang kilala na ni Maine ang infamous side nito.

He was sarcastic, assertive, and he had no qualms of any kind about what he needed to do when he wanted to achieve something.

Case in point, he was willing to go as far as pretending to be her boyfriend just so he could get to know more about her for what he would need to do effectively ruin her.

But...

Why would he have her made up for today?

Why would he concern himself with making sure she didn't look like a loser in front of her friends?

And why would he hold her hands and offer her comfort at some of the critical points this evening like their families toasting the soon-to-be bride and groom and when they had kissed as the audience requested?

Naalala din niya yung mini argument nila before getting inside the restaurant.

She had retreated somewhere in her mind during that car ride and she came back when she saw him lean towards her for a kiss.

Her defense was immediately up and if not for a remark he had made, hindi niya agad mare-realize na ginagalit talaga siya nito to elicit a reaction from her.

She was sure she must have look haunted to him.

Maine had been thinking a little too deeply about her actions towards everyone around her when it came to Sam and whenever that happened, alam niya she would drown in contemplation.

Yes.

Sure.

Sinabi ni RJ na gusto nitong matalo siya pero hindi sa kamay nang ibang tao.
