No one should blame Pat or think it wrong that she is as protective as a grizzly bear over her bestfriend.
If anything, they should find it wrong if she didn't have a care in the world for her.
So, if she was looking at RJ Faulkerson like she wanted to butcher him, not even her future husband should have anything to do with it or say about it. A wife (a future wife in her case) is not beholden to what her husband feels or believes. She can feel, believe, say, and do things that she wants.
"Babe, magseselos na ba ako kay RJ?" Sam piped up beside her, probably noting that she was (yet again) looking at the direction of her best friend and her "suitor".
She transferred the look of irritation she was burning RJ with to him. "Kung kailangan pag-selosan mo yung gusto ko siyang saksakin sa hinlalaki niya sa paa, then by all means get jealous."
The man laughed. "Magagalit si Meng sa'yo kapag ginawa mo yan."
"Gusto ko na nga ding magalit dito kay Menggay kase nakakakain ba sila nang maayos e dikit na dikit sila sa isa't-isa?!?!"
Lalong natawa si Sam. "Ganyan ka din nung tayo ah."
Pinanlisikan nya lalo nang mata ang mapapangasawa. "Kunsintidor ka talaga."
Sam lifted her hands and kissed her knuckles. "Gusto lang talaga kita iniinis kase lalo kang gumaganda pag galit e."
She rolled her eyes at him. "Tigilan mo ang kakasama mo kay RJ at nagiging magkatunog na kayo magsalita. Ganyan din niya bolahin si Meng e."
"Ah! Yun ang pagkakaiba namin. Nambobola siya. Ako seryoso."
Pat was brought back to the time when she and Sam had just started going out. He was this playful. "OK MR. GOGNA. SABI MO E."
She told him she was going to go to the restroom for a bit and left as soon as his cousins hijacked him to talk about last night's basketball game.
If someone had told her that this particular trip to the bathroom would be as dramatic as it turned out to be, she would have worn higher heels.
"RJ!" Pat heard Margaux's voice as she was about to return to the tent.
The restrooms were quite a walk away from where lunch was being held and from the sound of the other woman's voice, Pat was sure na she had to slow down her walk or else she might end up bumping into them.
"Oh hi!" Pat heard RJ respond.
"Hindi ako nakapag-hi sa'yo kanina kase may kausap ka sa phone" Margaux said.
"Ahhh... oo. I stepped out of the tent for a bit."
"So... kumusta ka?"
Gusto rumolyo nang mata ni Pat at the woman's obvious effort to have a conversation.
"I'm doing great" RJ answered "How about you?"
"Happy to be here! But I didn't expect you would be here too."
RJ must have smiled. His voice sounded lighter. "My girlfriend is the maid-of-honor e. Napilitan na sina Sam at Pat na isama na din ako."
Margaux's laugh tinkled. Pat knew that that "tinkling" laughter meant she was laying on the pheromones thick.
"So, it's true na kayo na nga ni Maine..."
Her bestfriend's "supposed" boyfriend must have nodded because Margaux continued to speak.
"Sinabi sa akin nina Sam pero nabigla ako nung una kase I didn't really expect you to have a girlfriend na. I mean, you were dating around three months ago."
