Any mere mortal would have exploded, RJ thought, as he entered their village in Laguna.
The past two days had been hell for him.
He had not felt this much for anything or ANYONE in a long time.
He knew he liked Maine. He also knew he didn't like what she was doing.
Pakiramdam niya e mahahati ang ulo niya kakaisip ano ba sa dalawa ang susundin niya.
His brain has been telling him to continue on with his plan to stop her publishing her book – he had everything he needed to ensure it.
The partnership with the Tuvieras was inked last Monday, Patricia had messaged him yesterday (in full confidence) asking him how he and Maine were after what happened in Serendra and he responded that she should not worry herself over them – proof that he had successfully infiltrated Maine's life, and now he was having dinner with his family which could very well mean he was on his way back to their graces no matter what happens with his plans.
They are family, after all.
They will stand by each other until the end – despite of and inspite of the fights.
But... his heart was telling him to put a stop on all his schemes and put her happiness as his top priority.
She was as broken as he and with her bestfriends' wedding getting nearer, she needed support more than getting stuck in the fear of his threats that he would ruin her life.
Her life is hard as it already is without his intervention and there is no one she could rely on to save her.
Unless RJ decides to switch from the devil to an angel.
Still, would she even believe the transformation?
He had given her no cause to view him differently.
RJ played "bastard son-of-a-bith" perfectly. Too perfectly actually, if Kris was right about Maine crying during the last time they confronted each other.
Torn in indecision, work had been RJ's only salvation bago siya mabaliw.
He arrived at their house and was buzzed in by the guard.
Pagkatapos nang usapan nila ni Gab, going home was overdue.
He missed his parents and being home might be able to bring him a little clarity.
Nag-set siya nang deadline para kay Meng and that deadline was coming real soon. It was a deadline for himself as well.
If he pushed through with his threat, he would ruin her.
And if he didn't, he was going to give her the opportunity to ruin him.
Kakayanin ba niya yun?
Almost as if in a daze, he entered their house with these gloomy thoughts only to be electrified.
Narinig niya ang tawanan as soon as he opened the door.
His face became pale white because he knew all those voices – one was his mother's, his sister's, and... Maine's.
"RJ!"
Ruru's voice rang from the foyer to the veranda and Maine felt the smile freeze on her lips.
WHAT WAS THE MAN DOING HERE?!?!?!?!
She and Gab exchanged a look of surprise as lo and behold, the Faulkerson heir, came into view.
