Four weeks. That's all I have left until the Weasley's show up here in Diagon Alley, then I will no longer be bored out of my mind.
It's the end of July already and I am completely bored. I have gone through every shop, vendor, and everything else that Diagon Alley holds. I'm sitting in my room, getting ready for the day. I dress as my usual self, skinny jeans, a pair of grey slip on shoes and light sweater, seeing as it is a bit chilly outside today. I pull my long black hair into a ponytail as I grab a few galleons and make my way to the dining area of the Leaky Cauldron.
"Hello, Tom. How are you this morning." I say to Tom, the owner of the Leaky Cauldron as I make my way down the stairs.
"Miss Violet. I'm well. Just making the rounds this morning. Making sure housekeeping is keeping up with their work. Don't want slackers here now do I?"
"No, Sir. But, I assure you all the work is doing a great job. They always take care of me, especially Anna."
"I'll be sure to let her know what a good job she is doing, if you say something about anyone I know it to be true. Now, run along, go have some fun while you can!"
I chuckle. "Alright Tom. See you later." I finish my conversation and make my way to a near-by table and order my usual breakfast. A bagel, smothered in cream cheese, and a cup of hot coffee.
As I eat and drink my breakfast I watch all the other Witches and Wizards, come and go from the Leaky Cauldron, many just stop by for the drinks, but a fair few are actually staying here for business related thing, such as work or what not. I finish eating and leave a Knut on the table as a tip, the coffee wasn't very good today and make my way to Diagon Alley.
I make my usual stop at Obscurus Books and ask for any new arrivals on Quidditch, the Wizard helping stock today shakes his head no so I walk back out.
"I've read almost everything in there. I need something new to do today." I say to myself and I look around the Alley. Nothing to the right, except Gringotts, and to the left are stores that I have visted multiple times. "Ugh. What do I do?"
So bored out of my mind I make my way back to the Leaky Cauldron and make my way towards the stairs that lead to my room, but just as I am about to climb, a Witch enters the pub and says something about someone escaping from a prison and the muggle world knowing, and that is when an idea pops into my head. I'm going to go to the Muggle world today.
Let's face it, I've been there loads of times and was raised there my whole life, I think I will be fine. Sure my mum said not to go out there but hey, where is mum now? That's right. Not here.
So against all of my elders wishes I sneak out of the pub and enter the Muggle world for the first time in what feels like forever. I start walking down the street and find myself towards the center of London. I don't have any muggle money, but i'm sure I can find a way to sneak on a few buses to get around town.
Hours upon hours have passed and it is nearly night. I decide to head back to my room, just in case Tom comes to check up on me. I quickly get in the line to get on the next tour bus heading back to the center of town when the driver grabs my arm. "Your money Miss?" He says pointing at the sign that says all passengers must pay.
"Um.. I haven't any money Sir. I just need this ride to get back home. I'm late you see." I say trying to keep my cool.
"No money, no ride, sorry Miss." he says as he points out the bus.
Now more worried then ever, I make my way off the bus and start to walk. The air is staring to get even more chilly with every step I take. I pull my sweater tight around my body and start to jog, hoping that I can somehow make it back before anyone notices where I have gone.
An hour gone I realize that I am almost back. I keep up the pace and continue to jog, but come to a complete halt when I see a HUGE black dog blocking my way.
"Nice-e, dogg-ey." I say with my teeth chattering from the cold. I am also terrified that the dog will bite me or worse, so I keep my distance. But it is no use. The dog comes closer and closer, until it is right in front of me. Just as I think it is about to attack, it sits down and looks me in the eyes.
"Now, you-u aren't-t-t that-t-t bad-d are you-u?" I say still chattering. I make the signal for it to follow me and I begin to run back to the Leaky Cauldron again. I look behind me and see the dog following me also. It seams that I have made a friend.
I make it back inside, with no one suspecting a thing, I realize that I cannot keep the dog inside, because Tom would wonder where I found it, so I lead him to the quiet Alley and show him a nice warm spot that he can stay at for the time being.
"Now you stay here, i'll bring you some food in just a second." So I run back into the pub and order a whole chicken, Tom looks at me funny, but doesn't say anything. I sit at my table and wait for the chicken to be done. After only a short wait, the chicken is sent to my table and I grab the plate and run to Diagon Alley. I find the dog right where I left him and I can see his mouth watering from the chicken already.
"Hey, this isn't all yours you know. At least let me have a leg." I grab a leg and the dog and I dig into our small feast. "You probably have to go back to the muggle side of the pub tomorrow. I don't know what people would do if they saw a dog running around here. They might bewitch you if you get into trouble." I look down to see if he was listening to me to find two big grey eyes staring back at me. "You, you understand me?" The dog nods his head. "How strange... maybe you should say on this side of the Alley. You look like you would fit in. Anyway, I am going to sleep now, I had a long day. I say you do the same. I'll be back in the morning with more food, okay?"
The next two weeks go the same way, I spend my mornings, afternoons, and evenings with the dog. I tell him all about Fred and George and how I like Fred, but I don't think he likes me, even if George says he does. And about Lucy and Lee, how I don't see them that much anymore because they are always with each other, and about what happened with Cedric. It is very odd but, when I ask a 'Yes or No' question he either nods or shakes his head. Like he really does understand.
It's August 13th today, my birthday. I being my day the same way ordering my usual breakfast, with an addition of a few sausage links for the dog and make my way to our meeting spot. I see him waiting for me and his food. But, on normal days he just begins to eat his food today he howls and what sounds likes singing. He ends his little song and I ask, "Did you know it was my Birthday?" he shakes his head 'yes'. "How strange, I must have told you, you are an intelligent dog. Let's treat ourselves today, my mum sent me another big sum of money, so lets get some ice-cream today?!" So like any other day, the dog follows me and we enjoy each others company. As the day comes to a close though I walk a little faster than him so he falls behind, I don't notice right away, but when I do I look back and find that he is gone. I look up and down the Alley, but I can't find him anywhere. So I make my way back to the Leaky Cauldron and Tom stops me as I enter.
"That mutt of yours just stormed my kitchen, and when a guest opened the door to the Muggle world he darted out!! He!!....." Tom continues on but I don't hear, the dog left me? After everything we did together? A part of me is saddened, but a part of me knows, for some odd reason that I will see him again. Soon.
