As I'm sure you all know the train took us back to Kings Cross and we all parted ways for the summer. Fred and George still have no idea that in little under a month I will be joining them at the burrow for the remaining part of the summer.
"I bet it is nice to just relax this summer, huh?" She says at supper one night.
"Yeah, minus the amount of homework we have received. I have to do a report on one of the final chapters of my Charms book, and it is so boring. I have 8 inches already so I only need 4 more, but it is just so tiring to talk about wand movements and incantations of specific spells."
Grandma chuckles to herself. "Already getting started on homework? You have only been out of school for 3 weeks!"
"And we got the summer assignments at week two! I just like being ahead of the game, plus I want to get it all done before I go to the Weaslesys. Merlin knows I'm going to have the help the guys on their essays, because we all know they don't read anything that doesn't have to do with a joke book."
"Well I am glad they have you. Some lucky guys those ones are." She winks at me.
"Oh NO grandma, nothing like that I promise you."
"Oh YES. How you and those boys are is exactly what I think about when I think of Jerry and me, your Grandpa."
"Wait you two were in school at the same time? I thought mum said he was two years older than you."
"And your mum is right. He was two years older than me, but only a year ahead of me in school. He wasn't 11 until November so he had to wait another year for his letter to come."
"Now, now grandma. Don't stop here."
"Stop where?"
"Please, please tell me the story on how you and Grandpa got together."
"Oh darling. I don't know if I will tell it right. It was so long ago."
"Tell it the best you can!" I said pleading.
"Well, alright. Okay so I knew who your grandfather was the first week of my first year, but never talked to him until my sixth. You see I was very introverted and kept to my group of girls. Unlike your grandfather and mum, I was in Ravenclaw. I always thought that the wizarding world was so beautiful, especially since I came from a muggle family. "
"Wait what? You came from a muggle family? I thought you had a long line of wizards in your family!"
"I do! Through your Grandfather. I was a muggle born wizard, now where were we. Ah, yes. My sixth year. It was a game between Gryffindor and Slytherin and everyone was routing for Gryffindor to win. Your Grandfather was Jerry the Jet as the boys liked to call him. He was the Gryffindor seeker and was the fastest one out there. Well the rest of the game went by fast as you could gather from his name. He won the game and looked straight at me when he did so. He winked and I have never blushed harder in my life. After the game we all went down to the Great Hall for supper and he came over to my table and sat next to me. We talked and talked, up until teachers had to force us out of the room. He walked me back to my common room and I got a letter later that night asking me to write to him over the summer. As I wouldn't see him at school the next year, because he would be finished in a few days with school. So we talked over the summer and even found out we only lived a few blocks away form each other. So I snuck out one night to see him and the rest is history. We fell in love and, oh do I miss him." she finishes with a slight sniff and pulls out a tissue.
"Oh grandma, I don't want you to cry. I am sorry I made you talk about him. I am sure it was hard. I don't even know when he passed away."
She blows he nose one last time and grabs my hand. "He didn't just pass away dear, he was murdered." I cannot believe what I just heard. "When you-know-who wanted him on his side. It happened when he was on his way to meet you for the first time. I didn't go along, because your mother and I, well you know, we didn't get along back then very well either. He was walking down your street and got captured, or at least that's what was rumored. No one has found his body. I have been in hiding from the world in fear that one day they would come after me also, and I would never be able to tell my granddaughter how very special she is to me."
I feel tears running down my cheeks and I let out a cry. "You are the strongest woman I know grandma." I pause to catch my breath. "...you are so so so special to me and always will be. I love you so much... and so does grandpa. He would be so... proud of the woman you have become, and how strong you are." My grandma looks me in the eye and holds out her arms. I embrace her in a warm hug and know then and there that this is where I am supposed to be.
A few days later I wonder around the house looking for grandma. "Grandma! Grandma!" I yell across the house. I am looking for her and she is nowhere to be found. I look to see if the car is gone, but it is still in the driveway. I stop looking for her and hope that she soon shows up somewhere. I make myself lunch, which consists of a package of pudding and a PB and J sandwich. I plop down on the couch and I bury my nose into a book I just received from my grandma as a coming home present. That and she knows that I love my muggle romance novels, they are just so much more exciting that real life. I get to the part of the story where the girl knows that she is in love with her best friends, but he is dating some other chick and she doesn't want to ruin their friendship.
"God, why do things always happen like this? I mean I would totally date Fred, but I am positive he has no interest in me!"
"Well then," I hear a mans voice, " its a good thing he has no interest in you, otherwise I would never let you in that boys house. You are too good for a Weasley." I turn around and I see no one. So I set down my book and pull out my wand. I know I don't know much magic now, but I can send a few sparks flying if I absolutely have to. "Well, no need to get your wand out I'm only here to deliver a message from your mother." I then do a 180 degree turn and am looking up at the man from last summer, the one that was my moms so called boyfriend.
"GET OUT OF HERE! MY GRANDMA IS ON HER WAY BACK." I scream at the man.
"Now," he strokes my face and wipes my hair behind my ear. I can feel his breath on my face. He is getting closer and closer, until his lips are grazing my ear. "your mother wanted me to come here and tell you that she will not be seeing you for the next year or so. She has Ministry work to be doing and its not in the country. Top secret. And your grandmother had a hold up at her shopping this morning. You see she went to Diagon Alley to get you some money for the school year and such, but she got sidetracked with the Minster wanting to talk about her daughter, and you know grandmothers, they like to talk. Especially when they are being questioned with harsh upbringings of their children."
I shove the man away. "She did no such thing, she may have disapproved of what my mother did with my father, but she never did anything to my mum. Now, get out!" I smack the man in the face and back away as fast as my feet can carry me.
"Now, now. Feisty this one. Don't worry darling, you'll see me again." and with a crack the man was gone.
I collapse to the floor. What just happened.
