"You said this was before you met me." You growled, annoyed. Was Gaster lying?

[It was. The thing you were before was nothing more than a shell. I gave you life. I created you. You belong to me, as a creation.]

"So I'm a sister to the skelebros?"

[No. You are so much more, yet less. They have the capacity to care for you more than they can others. They know you. They just don't remember. I originally made you with the intent to make you their mother, but things didn't work out that way. Why do you think you're so accepting of the two? It's because I am a part of you. You are the only present I can give to them.]

"That's a little fucked up, don't you think?" You mutter. It sounded a lot like incest to you.

[Not at all.] Gaster smiled. [Because there was no chance to brand you as their mother. The only thing I had time for was using you as a babysitter. You would watch over the two, day and night. You were much gentler than I... much more understanding of my children's needs, and you had a strange love for jokes and puns that I could never find the source for. You were always making puns around Sans, which led him to his love for puns. When you ceased to exist, Sans' hope did, as well.]

"Am I the reason he's so... like he is now?" You whispered. Your heart was sore, hurting. You curled and uncurled your fingers, and realized you were crying. You wiped your tears away.

[I can't say. However, Chara is the reason for his mistrust. You don't remember Chara, but I have told you several things in previous time lines. Everything I've ever learned about what went on, I've always come back to tell you. You're my only physical connection to this world, my information storage unit. You were more than happy to continue my research for me, when I asked. This was the world before your DETERMINATION expired. Chara killed Papyrus, causing Sans to go into a mode in which hiding you was most important. So, he hid you near the core... but it was all in vain. When you died, he went into a blind rage and began destroying things left and right. He no longer has the energy to do so, but he could if he wanted to.]

"My... DETERMINATION expired?" You shiver at the word. At the thought of such a thing.

[Yes. It seems my soul was not as compatible with yours as I first thought. It took me quite a while to find you, as I could only remember pieces. It took me even longer to put those pieces together, about 70 timelines' worth. It was a waste of my time to follow half of those leads, but the payout was well worth all of the times I saw my sons die.] Gaster was now glaring at you, no empathy emanating from him. You shivered, and it wasn't from the cold. Gaster seemed to have a lasting grudge. [I gave you my entire life, neglecting my creations in the process.]

"But... That's not my fault!" You insisted, stepping closer to Gaster, who recoiled from your touch. Your fingertips once more brushed against the fabric of his coat, but the feeling slowly faded.

[It is.]

"No it's not, Gaster!"

Gaster disappeared.

"Whose name did you just say?"

You froze.
