Who am I? Yasmin Demir is who I am.

That was a cringeworthy moment there. It sounded much better in my head. And now I'm backtracking..

I recently turned nineteen. I'm half British and half Kurdish. My Mother is British, whereas Father was Kurdish. However, I was taught to primarily speak Turkish because it's one of my main languages - to which my Father taught me when I was young. I guess you could say I'm trilingual.

I live life with mid-length brunette hair, hazel eyes and a nose piercing. If you are the slightest bit interested in my height, I am 5'9.

I also live life with two close friends. Katherine March and Candice Woods. They are the same age as I, and have been a huge part of my life. Without them two, I don't know where I'd be today. As childish as it sounds, they are my best friends. Ones who I will cherish forever.

Now. If you notice from the third paragraph, when revealing to you all where I inherit my biological background (from my Mum and Dad), I used past tense. That is, in relation to my Father.

Why?

Because my Father died in a car crash three years ago.

The most regrettable thing I never did, was mourn over his death. I physically couldn't do it. Don't get me wrong, I loved him very much. But I hardly saw him.

He never contributed to anything that's happened in my life. He never attended to any of my school plays, parent-teachers conferences, or even my birthday parties.

My own Mother and Father were constantly working. Even to this day, my Mother is a hundred percent committed to her job. I cannot say it's bad that she's committed to her job, because it isn't. She's doing what all Mother's would do; providing money for herself and I.

Joanna, Katherine's Mum, also took care of me, like I was one of her own. She may have had a busy schedule, like Mum, and the exact same job as her. But she always came back home earlier, and had all the time in the world to be in both mine and Katherine's life. She's lucky. Incredibly lucky.

I was born in London and lived there till the age of fifteen. When my Father died, we decided that we needed a fresh start. That fresh start had begun when my Mother and I moved to California.

As well as Mum and I moving to California, both Katherine and Candice also moved out here with their Mum's. When us girls found out we were all moving out abroad, to the same place, we were hugely shocked. It rarely happens to many people in their lives. I guess we're lucky our parents work for the same company.

I've tried to find out my Mother's profession, but she won't tell me. Whatever it is, it is paying her well.

I'm determined to find out.

Present

Now that we're in the present, my Mother has just revealed to me that we'll be moving; again. All I know is that the town we're moving to has all the facilities I need.

Due to my stubbornness, I now found myself whining about the whole moving situation.

"Mum. Why do we have to move again?"

I'm not kidding, we haven't been here long. Last month marked our three year stay in Cali.

"It's the boss's decision, sweetheart. My pay rise will start as soon as we move. Besides, I've heard it's a...pleasant town." She paused for a while when she said it was a pleasant town.

"I highly doubt that, Mother. Who on earth names a town, Silent Hill. It sounds a bit creepy, don't you think?" I asked.

Her face had a thoughtful expression. She then rolled her eyes and looked pretty annoyed.

It's probably about this discussion...

"It's just the name of the town. Stop complaining and get your things ready. We're moving in the next two days."

"W-what? You're joking, right?" I stuttered, confused.

"Nope. I'm not joking."

"Well, thanks for the notice!" I yelled sarcastically, feeling annoyed.

I've got to tell Katherine and Candice. Scratch that. I need to see them!

"Don't be sarcastic with me. I need to give you something first." She scolded, before grabbing a small box that was on the coffee table.

She opened it, revealing a necklace with a unique red pendant.

"I want you to wear this at all times. Do you understand?" She sternly demanded.

My mind was strongly arguing against wearing the necklace all the time. It wasn't the sort of necklace I would usually go for.

But I nodded and let her put it on me, to prevent an argument from arising. Once she clasped it on, I thanked her.

And with that, I rushed up to my room and started packing
