Yasmin's P.O.V

I had awoken from a restful sleep. Not once did I have those daunting nightmares. Thank God; if there even is one.

My eyes surveyed the room. I saw Cameron seated on the chair by my bed. His eyes were fixated on mine.

"Morning." He spoke huskily.

"Morning." I responded.

After stretching my entire body, I sat up on my bed, crossing my legs together.

"How'd you sleep?" He asked.

"Much better, thank you."

He had given me some sort of liquid form medication. Candice had made it for me, to help me sleep at night.

"It's okay, Yasmin. I'm just glad that you slept okay." He expressed a smile.

I nodded in response.

"I need to go, love."

My heart instantly fluttered.

Love.

I nodded, again.

He chuckled.

"What's funny?" I asked.

"Nothing." He shook his head, still smiling at me.

"I won't be around tonight. I have errands to run." He informed me, suddenly sounding serious.

"You always have errands to run." I groaned.

"I know. Sorry."

"It's okay. You're clearly busy." I said with a sigh, and stood up.

I started to rearrange my bed. After several moments of silence, I knew he was gone. I sighed heavily, and lied back on my bed, crumpling the newly made bed.

"Sweetie!" I heard my mother.

"Yes!" I shouted back.

"You have school in half an hour."

"What?!" I screamed in shock.

"I said, you have school in half an hour. Hurry it up!" She yelled back.

Oh shit.

Katherine's P.O.V

I was digging into my bowl of cereal, and scrolling through my phone, until I heard the door bell ring.

"Katherine. Get the door will you!" Mum yelled from upstairs.

"Really." I silently groaned.

How lazy can she get? I mean like, come on! All she had to do was walk down one set of stairs.

I walked towards the door, and swung it wide open. In front of me stood... nobody.

What the fuck?

I walked on the porch, and scanned the whole area. Nobody was around. I'm so confused right now.

I turned back around to see a book on my front step.

Strange.

That wasn't there before. I paced towards the step, and picked up the book.

La Bête.

What the hell did that mean? As I walked back into the house, I continued to gawk at the book.

Once I shut the door, and made my way towards the kitchen, I sat back on my stool, and opened the book. The first page had writing on. However, what was mentioned in the writing alarmed me.

Katrina March. This book is yours only. Take your time, and read through it very carefully. This will give you an insight into the world you are close to stepping into. Watch your back at all times, young wolf.

The only person that called me Katrina was my father. The useless Spanish bastard who left on my tenth birthday.

Who had put this book on my front step?

"Who was that, Kathy?" Mum asked as she entered the kitchen.

"Erm. Nobody." I stuttered and shut the book.

"I think it was just kids playing granny knocking."

"Kids granny knocking at this time? How stupid." Mum said, shaking her head.

"Yup. Very stupid." I agreed.

Yasmin's P.O.V

Damon- Vampires don't turn into piles of dust. That's just bullshit.

Another text to 'get me through the day'. They don't always help, considering it's always about vampires.

"What's a soulmate?" I suddenly found myself asking Elena.

"A soulmate? Why do you ask?" Concern was laced in her voice.

"Just wondering." I respond with a shrug.

Her eyebrows were still raised in confusion.

"I've heard others mention it, that's all." I continued, silently hoping she wouldn't question me.

"It's someone who you usually have an immediate connection with as soon as you meet that person." Elena asked.

So the research is correct, thank Jesus; if he also exists.

The Internet can lie. Remember that, kids!

"Hold up. Are you asking this because of Cameron?" She immediately asked.

"What? No!" I exclaimed in shock.

"You know, you both have gotten much closer recently. The type where it looks like you like Cameron more than just a friend." She continues.

"I mean, he's not bad looking-"

"Ha! You didn't deny it!" She says, pointing a finger towards me.

"No. No. No!" I say, shaking my head.

"Do you like him, Yasmin?" She asked.

"Elena. He's my friend. I -" She cut me off again.

"That's not what I'm asking, Yasmin. I'm asking if you have fallen for him."

I didn't respond. She noticed my uncertainty through my current expression.

"Yasmin. I won't tell anyone. It will stay between us. I promise."

Trust no one but yourself.

That's what I've always followed.

"No. I haven't." I lied.

The truth is, I'm not sure how I feel about Cameron.

"Okay." She seemed to fall for it.

"You know, he's a very difficult person to get through to." She suddenly said

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"He hides a lot of things, Yasmin. If you can get him to open up, then I will congratulate you for accomplishing something so difficult."

"Hmm." I hummed.

I have partially already accomplished that. But I guess there's still more to him that meets the naked eye.
