That week, araw-araw ang sundo ni Phil sa'kin. Minsan pumupunta kami sa trabaho nya after my shift dahil may naiiwan pa syang work or lalabas kami, movie or pasyal lang.
I was undeniably happy, content and over the moon with him. Ang gaan gaan nyang kasama. Napakasaya nyang mahalin. Paulit-ulit kong pinasalamatan si Lord dahil sa kanya. After two failed relationships, I found Phil. And he was a find! I couldn't have asked for more.
It was Friday night when we received texts from the airline na cancelled ang flights namin dahil sa bagyo sa Manila. Nasa apartment nya na kami nun preparing our stuff for the trip for a very early morning flight sana the next day.
"Bummer!" Phil said. "Excited pa naman ako. At excited sila to meet you."
"Next weekend?" I suggested.
"Okay lang?" he asked.
"Oo naman," tango ko.
"Okay. I'll call the airline," sabi nya. He arranged for us to go to the Philippines the weekend after that. "Let's Skype home. They have to meet you now through this then, for now."
"Okay," payag ko. May kaba pero excited ako to meet his parents.
"Mom? Si Dad?" sabi ni Phil sa tawag.
"Philly! How are you? Daddy! Your son! We're Skyping!" sigaw ng mom nya.
Ang cute. Philly. Nakita kong nahiya ng kaunti si Phil sa ngiti nya. Hinigpitan nya ang hawak sa kamay ko.
"O anak kumusta? Tuloy ba kayo? Cancelled daw ang mga flights ah," dinig kong sabi ng Daddy nya.
"Yes Dad. But she's here now," sabi ni Phil.
Agad-agad? Kinabahan ako.
Hinila nya ang kamay ko so I could get in the frame. Pinaupo nya 'ko sa harap nya. He gave me the phone kaya naipulupot nya ang mga kamay nya sa baywang ko.
"Good evening po," bati ko sa kanila.
"Hi hija. You're so pretty!" kaway ng mommy nya sa'kin.
Natawa ako. Tumingin ako kay Phil who was encouraging me to talk more. "Thanks po. Kumusta po dyan?"
"Ang lakas ng ulan. Sayang naman hindi kayo makakapunta," pout ng mommy nya. Kamukha ng mommy nya si Phil 'pag ganun.
"Next weekend daw po," offer ko.
Humigpit ang pulupot ni Phil sa'kin. "Next weekend Mom. So dun ka na lang mag-prepare."
"Eh kumusta ba kayo dyan? Nakakausap ko 'tong si Phil 'pag trabaho pero tahimik eh pagdating sa inyo. Ang naikukwento nya lang eh gusto ka daw nya."
"Talaga po?" Tumingin ako kay Phil na nahihiya.
"Dad. Too much info," iling ni Phil na natatawa.
"Alam ko kasi na girlfriend ka dati nung kaibigan nya. Hindi naman malihim sa ganun sa'min si Phil," sabi ng Daddy nya.
Overshare. Pero nakakatuwa. Close sila ng Daddy nya.
"Oy sa birthday mo hija umuwi kayo dito ah. Ipaghahanda talaga kita," sabi ng mommy nya.
"Sige po," payag ko clapping my hands looking at Phil.
"That was supposedly a surprise Mom!" napa-face palm na sabi ni Phil.
"Ikaw naman sinabi mo na," sisi ng Dad nya sa Mom nya.
"Ay hindi ko alam," sagot naman ng Mom nya. Natawa ako sa kanilang tatlo.
