That weekend was the best weekend I had so far in my life. We were normal: girlfriend na girlfriend ako at mahal na mahal namin ang isa't isa. Walang sabit, walang kahit ano, masayang-masaya kami ni Phil.
We were also perfect in bed. Our compatibility was amazing. Natatawa pa kami minsan 'pag sexy time na. We're so happily perfect. Para kaming annoying na love team na in real life in love talaga - we're rare.
We met his parents the weekend after that, as promised. Their house was so white and elegant. Napapaligiran ng man-made falls and garden ang open-concept home nila. Weirdly one would get that Phil grew up in a place like that. Relaxed and simple, but of money and breeding, very Phil.
"Ang ganda po ng bahay nyo Tita," I gushed. "It's so tranquil."
"Thank you," sabi ng Mommy ni Phil na sobrang bait. "This was a collaboration between me and Daddy ni Phil. I wouldn't take all the credit."
"White is my idea. I hate color. Diba maganda? Simple lang," sabi ng Dad ni Phil.
Kamukha ni Phil ang mommy nya pero kasing-tikas at tangkad nya ang Daddy nya. Pareho rin sila ng mannerisms.
"Is it strange that one of our businesses are signages and colorful, loud LED backgrounds?" sabi ni Phil.
"I was about to comment on that," I admitted.
"That's where I come in. Gusto ko kasi ng different concepts and designs at flexible ang LED background of course for any occasion. Kaya hija, ako na ang pag-designin mo ng party mo ha?" patuloy ng mommy nya.
"Po?"
"Mom, it's still a surprise," irap ni Phil disappointed.
"Eh sinabi na natin diba?" sabi ng Mommy nya.
"It means Esther you're not to say details," sabi ng daddy nya.
Nangiti ako sa kanila.
"Eh I don't know if she wants specifics now she knows she's having a party here," depensa ng mommy ni Phil.
"Ay, dito po?" tanong ko sa kanya, sa kanila.
"Mom, you're mentioning details now," natatawang sabi ni Phil. He held my hand.
"Oh sorry," tawa ng mommy ni Phil. "Excited na excited lang."
Tumawa kaming lahat.
Hay ang saya... Family. Na-miss ko tuloy si Papa.
"Birthday ng first, and hopefully last, girlfriend ng anak ko ito, so dapat special ang party," dagdag pa ng mommy ni Phil.
"First girl po? I'm sure-"
"Alam ko namang nagka-girlfriend na yan pero for me ikaw ang una," sabi ng mommy nya. "I knew he wasn't confident in bringing the earlier girls he dated. I can tell that with you he is proud. Ilang taon ka na ba Philly? Twenty-seven na diba? Ikaw ba hija?"
"Magtutwenty-five po," I said.
"Mmm... ano na ha, medyo, pwede na," parinig ng mommy nya.
"Esther let's leave these kids here. Halika na sa engagement natin with our friends. Baka mamaya kung ano pa ang masabi mo dito sa dalawa," yaya ng daddy ni Phil sa asawa. "Maiwan muna namin kayo dito sa bahay."
Phil took me to his house. Yes, house. Sa property nila, he has a two-bedroom, two-storey house. It's his own.
We were on the second floor of his house. A whole wall of that house was just clear glass and I was admiring the view. "Why would you go to Macau if you have a freaking house like this here?"
