Chapter 45

When Phil and I woke up the next day, tanghali na. Maayos na ang garden kung saan the night before, maraming bote ng alak kung saan-saan. Nakasilip ako sa labas imagining how last night went when I felt Phil's hands hug me.

"Good afternoon," bati ko sa kanya.

"Good morning pa lang para sa'kin. Let's go back sa bed. Give me your monthsary gift now," halik nya sa leeg ko.

Nangiti ako getting where his mind's at. "I am not your monthsary gift Bear. I really have a gift," sabi ko.

"Okay, where?"

I went to get my bag and gotten the gift. I gave it to him.

"What's this?" he asked holding the wrapped flat item.

"That also came as a surprise to me when I saw that but I guess that's the best gift as my first monthsary gift for you," sabi ko.

He unwrapped it. It was a picture of us. Maria took a picture when Phil came back from China and visited me at work. I had it printed. In the picture, we were holding hands walking away.

Nangiti si Phil. "This was when you became my Bear," sabi nya.

"Oo."

"I love you Ana," he said and kissed me.

"Don't convince yourself Phil. Let's just do it: love each other."

"I want to make us work," he whispered.

"We should work," I hoped.

"We will."

Bumalik kami sa Macau more honest with each other. We wanted to give our relationship a renewed outlook. Alam na namin ang mga kahinaan namin and the past may be catching up to us pero we told each other that we love each other. Kami ang nagdamayan noon... we were there for each other. We saw love when we needed it. Now we have to continue life with that love kahit mahirap, kahit hindi natural.

Naging busy si Phil sa trabaho but he was still making time for me. Sa gabi manonood kami ng movie na pareho na lang naming makakatulugan. Maaga akong aalis for work kissing him good morning to which he will stir to.

He asked me to visit him that Friday afternoon at his work after my shift. He said he was still busy kaya baka sa office nya na lang kami mag-dinner or baka after work nya we grab a bite some place before going home.

Phil was talking to his staff when I saw a text on his phone na nasa table nya lang. His phone lit up and saw that Say had texted him. The text read: I'll be in Hongkong tomorrow.

Nabalutan ako ng hindi maipaliwanag na lungkot, kaba at hindi magandang paghihinala.

I decided to confront him about it. Hindi ko maitatago ang pagtataka ng matagal tungkol sa bagay na yun. Tinawag ko ang atensyon nya, "Phil."

"Okay na Bear. Paalis na tayo," sabi nya grabbing our things.

"Wait. Let's talk," pigil ko sa kanya.

"Okay," he looked at me intently, wondering what the talk would be about.

"Nag-text si Say. Nasa Hongkong daw sya bukas," sabi ko.

He sighed, exhausted almost. "She's been asking me to see her. Gusto nya raw akong maka-usap. Sabi ko naman, okay na. I feel kasi mag-sosorry lang sya for what happened before."

"When did she ask you to see her?" tanong ko.

"This morning," sabi nya. "Go ahead, see the whole conversation. It's in there," he said. He wasn't hiding anything. Phil was better than a lying cheat.
