SPECIAL CHAPTER Twenty One - Someone, Something

"Just sleep on my shoulder!" I insisted.

Sophia crossed her slender arms in protest. "N-no!"

I smirked at her and flexed my arm. "Why not, are my arms too muscly for you?"

She rolled her eyes, visibly trying not to stare at my, ahem, amazing biceps. "N-no!" I chuckled. "I-I'd rather get a backache then sleep on your stupid shoulder!"

She is soooo checking me out.

My eyes widened in disbelief. "Oh really?"

She looked at me, scowled, then hesitated. "F-fine, Finn. But don't do anything fishy!"

Haha. Riiight.

I scoffed. "As if I would. Stop being so nervous around me, I'm not the boogeyman."

She laid her head on my shoulder, eyes slowly closing. "How can I, Finn? One second - you're nice to me, the next - something unexpected happens!" I clenched my jaw, looking at her sleepy self resting on me. Did she really see me as some dick? "You say things out of nowhere, you kiss me out of nowhere," I smirked at the thought. "You go and-"

"I promise that will change and it won't happen again." I reassured, looking down at her twinkling green eyes. They captivated me, and for what reason, I wasn't sure. And for what reason I put my thumb on her pouty pink lips, I wasn't sure either. "Especially no kissing."

"F-fine," she mumbled. I wrapped my arm around her, and held her. Surprisingly, it felt...okay.

Nice...even.

"I thought you said 'none of that'." she protested.

"I'm hugging you, not doing it with you. Have you never had any experience with guys at all? Bodily contact?" I rolled my eyes at Sophia. Her cheeks flushed a deep red, and I took that as a 'no'.

And deep down, I felt a little happy about that. Maybe.

She sighed in disappointment. "Well...tomorrow was supposed to be my first date, but now I have to cancel."

My fists and jaw clenched. She just said she never had any guy experience before! This can't happen! It won't happen! I won't let it!

"Then you'll have to save your first date with me." I whispered into her hair as I held her.

"You've already stolen my first kiss," she mumbled back. "Can't I give my first date to someone else?"

Nope. Never.

"Just go to sleep, Sophia." I evaded.

"But you-"

"You need to sleep, it's 2am." I watched as she slowly shut her dazzling green eyes and drifted off into dreamland.

Her body rose and fell as she breathed in and out in cute little purrs. I brushed a stray hair away from her face and studied it. Her face reminded me of those sculptures I saw one time in Europe, breathtaking and mesmerising. What am I even saying right now?

I ran my fingers along her soft, round face and continued to study it intently. Hoping she wouldn't stir awake, I did the unthinkable. I don't know why, but my lips met her cheek in a chaste, tender kiss. My heart pounded. All senses of rational thinking went out the stupid hospital window and I just ignored it. This time, my brain and my heart said 'yes' because she looked so damn adorable and I couldn't resist.

I kissed her tenderly on her plump, pink lips and I felt electricity jolt through my body. Even though she was asleep, it was almost as if she kissed me back. My heart thumped in my chest and I felt dizzy with an emotion I wasn't familiar with. And it terrified me.

Reluctantly pulling away, I ran a hand in my hair. Weirdly enough, I didn't regret a single thing.

"Just like the first time."
