Tori and I were in the bathroom getting ready for the rehearsal dinner. We had a little over an hour to go and Vienna chose to peek out the window and try to spot cute guys, despite being in a relationship, whereas I was helping Tori with her hair.

"Drat," I muttered. "I've run out of bobby pins, Tori."

"I think I've got some in my luggage." she said.

Jumping down from the stool I was standing on, I walked out to grab them. I ran into Austin in the hallway, who looked freaking GORGEOUS in his black tuxedo.

"Soph! I was just about to find you!" he beamed. "Are you busy?"

"Actually, yeah," I said regretfully, walking away slowly. "I have to get bobby pins for Tori. See ya!"

"Wait." I halted.

"Y-yes?"

He turned to face me and looked me dead in the eyes. "I uh...I was getting a sense Ashley didn't like me for some reason. Does she have something against me?"

I flinched at the question. It was beyond obvious that she didn't like him. Oh no! "W-why? Did she say something to you?"

"No, it was just the way she was acting..." He pointed out.

"She's just..." I faltered. Just what? "Um...just really sweet if you get to know her. She's just being rough because...um...she kind of wants me to be with someone else."

"Who?" Austin asked.

Oh fuck. What do I do?!

"It doesn't matter," I said. "The important thing is you haven't got a thing to worry about."

He gave me a sheepish grin in agreement, and pulled me closer to him. I felt his breath on my face, and the smell of his cologne, his warmth as we leaned closer. Our lips barely touched when Finn cleared his throat loudly.

"Sophia." Finn said sternly, causing us to quickly break away. Even in his stupid tux did he manage to make my heart skip a beat.

"Yeah?" I grumbled at him, narrowing my eyes.

"Rosie's waiting for you in her room." Wait, what? Rosie actually wants to speak to me?

"Okay." I turned to Austin, whose hand tightly grasped mine. I pecked him on the cheek. "I'll go now."

I turned back and watched as Austin and Finn stared at each other intently, before knocking on Rosie's door.

"Come in!" She called out. I walked inside to see her room much bigger than mine. Damask wallpaper enveloped the walls, a long, floor mirror was placed in the corner, and a massive vanity had makeup and hair tools spread all over it.

"Hi..." I said, scratching the nape of my neck. "Finn said you wanted to talk?"

"Yes." she said, smoothing her red gingham skirt. "Well, for one thing, you look great."

I blushed, looking down at my gown. It was a cap sleeved sequin black dress, one that Ashley bought for me, and it glittered in the light of Rosie's chandelier. A pearl headband rested on my head, and matching pearl-drop earrings dangled on my ears. The bodice gathered at my waist, accentuating my curves perfectly, and it really made me feel a lot better, especially given the current 'situation'.

I know, how materialistic of me. But it's true.

"Thankyou," I replied. "But you'll probably look amazing."

She gave me a small smile, almost making me forget about our hatred towards each other. Rosie bit her lip. "Actually, I wanted to talk about this maid of honour thing. It probably came off as a big surprise. When a girl picks her maid of honour, it's supposed to be her best friend or her sister or something..."

"But why did you pick me?"

"I-I don't know," she stammered. "For some reason Finn wanted to have this wedding as soon as possible. So I didn't exactly have much time to think about it. I kept analysing my friends - I don't really any siblings, and so..."

"What do you mean, you don't really have any siblings?"

She shook her head. "When my parents split up, my mom left and took my brother with her. We don't really talk much - both my mom and my brother..."

"That must've been hard for you." her eyes widened in surprise. "You're not the only one who's practically been raised without a mother."

Maybe things were going okay between Rosie and I. We did at least have something in common, even if it was a negative thing.

"Your mom...?"

"Died when I was little." I finished. "Don't be sorry. It was a long time ago."

She looked at me in sympathy, and I gave her a sad smile. "But why me? Why did you pick me to be your maid of honour?"

"I don't have any other female friends." she admitted. "Shae and Chastity left me after I started dating Finn, and we stopped hanging out." I opened my mouth to speak, but quickly closed it. "I just want you to know that I really appreciate what you're doing for me."

"Aw! Rosie-Posy!" I teased. She had certainly changed since the last time we talked. "I knew you liked me."

"Don't call me that," she said sternly. "We're still enemies."

Maybe I spoke too soon.

"Yeah, yeah," I shrugged. "Get ready - we're leaving soon."

She turned to go fish into her wardrobe for her outfit. "And you have friends who are girls as well," I added, shooting her a small smile. "You've got three of them and they're all coming to your wedding."
