Everybody loves a good fairytale. They crave the stories with the dashing prince, the chivalry, the infatuation. But I find that most fairy-tales sugar coat things and skip the realistic aspects of life.

Take Cinderella for example. Prince Charming must've experienced some kind of hardship along the road to his lady love, because love is never easy. It's filled with ups and downs, it makes you feel delusional, and it eats you up on the inside. It makes your heart skip a beat, and in some cases, your heart break.

I was beyond the point of lethargic one morning. My bed and I shared a bond so strong it was almost physical, causing me to sleep in. As I groaned at the sound of a shrill noise, I tried slamming my hand on the bedside table, in the hope that it would snooze the alarm. But it wasn't my alarm that woke me up - it was a call.

"Hello?" I croaked into the speaker, finally managing to find my phone in between my sheets.

"Soph!" The voice whispered, forcing me to tilt my head closer to my phone. "Where are you?!"

I finally gained enough consciousness to recognise the voice after much confusion. It was my best friend, Vienna Waldorf.

"Why are you whispering?" I mumbled.

"Girl, have you been living under a rock?!" Vienna whispers loudly, "I'm at the boarding gate - AT THE AIRPORT, might I add - and everyone's scarily quiet. It's so creepy! Where the hell are you?"

"I'm still at home. What do you mean you're at the airport? It's like-" I paused to check my phone. "9:15AM. Great."

I rushed frantically to get ready, brushing my long brown hair with one hand, the other still holding onto the phone, Vienna screeching into my ear. "Oh my god Soph! You are so...ugh! Just hurry up and get here!"

"I can only go as fast as I can!" I yelled back, hanging up. I ran to my wardrobe, grabbed random clothes, whilst brushing my teeth and tripping over five times in the middle of it.

"AHH CRAP! MY TOE!" I cursed, holding my now-bruising toe whilst banging on dad's bedroom door. Wake up!

I bolted to the kitchen to grab a sandwich and an apple before grabbing my luggage and heading downstairs. Dad finally caught up with me as I headed out the door, but I felt like I had forgotten something...

What is it...what is it...what is it...!?

Finn's hoodie!

I bolted back upstairs and into my room, frantically searching for the garment. A sigh of relief escaped me as I grabbed the hoodie and slid down the bannister, hitting my leg in the process, before limping out the door.

We made it to the airport just in time for departure. Dad and I were in such a rush to leave that I completely forgot what on earth I threw on.
