Thirty Three - Intervention by Invitation

I can't believe it was almost summer vacation. And to think - only a year ago did I step through the grounds of UCLA!

And so I did again, walking into my apartment. It sounded like Tori and Vienna were making something in the kitchen. Hopefully, because I'm starving.

"H-hey, um, Soph!" Vienna said shakily as I walked in the kitchen. Tori and Vienna looked like deer caught in the headlights.

"HEY!" Tori said, over-enthusiastically.

I eyed them suspiciously. "What's going on here?"

"N-nothing!" Vienna said feigning innocence.

"Is this some kind of intervention? You guys are staring at me like I'm a ghost." I squinted in distrust. "ARE ONE OF YOU PREGNANT? Because I SWEAR to GOD-"

"No!" They yelled.

"Then what is it?" I asked. They kept quiet, but something shiny on the sideboard caught my eye.

"Listen Soph, why don't you just chill out in the living room whilst we go, um, make some coffee for you, and-"

I walked towards them and the sideboard, but they moved closer towards it, blocking me. "Not unless you tell me what that shiny thing is."

I tackled them with the amount of beauty and grace I channelled into my dancing, shoving them out of the way. Grasping the shiny paper, I ripped it out from the sideboard.

It was an invitation.

Scanning the page, I frowned. They were hiding from me an invitation to Finn and Rosie's wedding.

Dear Miss Sophia Dennings,

Mr and Mrs Callahan and Mr Williams cordially invite you to witness the union of their families as Finnegan Thomas Callahan and Rosabelle Agatha Whitney Olivia Caroline Williams are married at Château de Perles, Paris, France on the 10th of July.

You are also cordially invited to the rehearsal dinner, one week prior to the wedding on the 3rd of July. All accommodation and airfares have been funded by the Williams and Callahan families.

RSVP by the 10th of June.

I inhaled sharply and looked away. That was enough for me to almost explode. This was clearly just a ploy to rub it in my face that Finn and Rosie were getting married.

"We didn't want you to see it in case you got upset."

I glared at the assailant. "Is this really happening? He knows I had some kind of crush on him, and he knows-ugh! This is so unfair!"

Tori cleared her throat. "Um, maybe it's not Finn who wants you at the wedding." I shot her a confused look. "Maybe it's Rosie."
