It Needs to Happen

Chapter 36

Josh pov

Colleen and I haven't really spoken since the appointment a few days ago. She is off at work now and I am sitting on the floor in Lily's room playing. She is playing on her soft mat staring at me. Her eyes are like Colleens. She looks through my soul with them. I close my eyes and realize I need to snap out of the anger. I pick Lily up and place her in her car seat and bring her out to the car. We start driving to Colleen's office to surprise her for lunch. I walk in with Lily in my arms and wave hello to all of the employees I know. I make my way upstairs and to the 4 th floor where she is. The elevator doors open and I make my way down the hall until I see her at her desk through the glass wall. Her back is facing me so she can't see me. Chris sees me and waves very lightly not to ruin the surprise. I make my way to her office doorway and Lily starts bouncing seeing her. She hears her and spins around. "What are you guys doing here? Is Lily ok?" She asks standing up taking Lily from my arms. "Coming to take you to lunch" I say as I apologetically look into her eyes. She reads me instantly. Chris gets up and scoops Lily out of her arms as he senses the moment as well. "I will take her around to visit" he says quickly leaving us alone. I pull Colleen into a hug and kiss into her hair. "Babe I am sorry for being so angry" I say. She nods against my chest. "Sorry for not telling you. I should have but didn't want to disappoint you and was hoping the doctor would change his mind" she says. I nod and kiss her lips. "Doing ok baby?" I ask holding her face. "Tired" she says. I run my hands under her shirt along her belly and smile. "I have to go the clinic this afternoon if you want to come" she says grabbing her wallet. "I was going to leave after lunch anyways" she says. "Yes for sure baby" I say holding her hand. I see Chris come back around the corner bouncing Lily as she giggles. "Guys, if Colleen has her appointment today Jessica is coming with the kids to the office and can take Lily for a few hours from you if you want and then bring her back to your house?" Chris asks. "Are you sure?" Colleen asks. "Yes you need a few hours together" he say smiling. She hugs him tight and thanks him. "Will you guys stay for dinner then before going home?" Colleen asks. "Sounds amazing" he says. "I will go grab Lily's stuff from the car. I race downstairs and grab her diaper bag and car seat and make my way back to give it to Chris. We both kiss Lily goodbye and walk out hand in hand. This feels better.
