Chapter 69

Colleen POV

I walk out of the bedroom upset. I am just trying to help Joshua. A few minutes later I hear a door open as I am in the kitchen with my Mom. "Is that Josh?" my mom asks shocked. "It can't be. He hasn't walked out since he got home" I say as I walk to look down the hall. I see Josh slowly walking along holding onto the wall. "Babe what are you doing?" I ask rushing up to him. "Coming to apologize for being an ass" he says. I smile and kiss his lips briefly. "Its ok babe. I just wanted to hold your hand as I know it must be painful" I say. "Doesn't give me the right to be an ass to you. I am sorry babe" he says hugging me. I hug him tight and then look at him as his hands roam down my back to my butt. "Mmmm babe soon" I say smirking. He smiles and then says "I need to sit". I nod and we quickly walk over to the couch. "Joshua!" my Mom says coming to hug him. "Hey Gwen" he replies. "Legs doing better today?" she asks staring at him. "Painkillers" he says shaking the bottle that he pulled from his pocket. Lily comes off the floor and snuggles with him and his heart is melting. She misses him chasing after her. "Soon we will play ok Lily? When daddy gets better" he says to her brushing her hair off her face. She smiles and stares at his bandaged legs. "Hurt?" she says in her tiny voice as he nods. She grabs his face in her tiny hands and kisses all over his face. He starts to cry as I sit behind them. "Lots of people love you baby" I whisper kissing his ear. He nods and hugs me and Lily. I need him back 100%.

As the days go on Josh is much better. The painkillers are helping him be more mobile. I see him throw two in his mouth one morning before we sit by the pool. I am bringing Noah in and my Mom is bringing Lily. Josh sits under the umbrella and watches us as Lily wants to show off. I look over to Josh smiling and see him taking two more pills. "Didn't you just take some 20 minutes ago?" I ask him. "I am in pain Colleen" he says firmly. I nod and turn away floating with Noah towards my mom as we share an awkward glance at each other. I enjoy the rest of the swim until finally we are water logged and climb out another 30 minutes later to which I see Josh taking another pill. I pass Noah to my Mom as she walks into the house with the two kids and I sit down beside Josh on the lounge chair. "Babe there is a limit to those pills" I say grabbing his hand. "I don't care about the limits Colleen. I am in pain" he says as he slides his feet off the lounger and stands up. Maybe I am being too rough on him I think. I need to lay off.
