Chapter 45

Colleen POV

I am sitting in my office in the corner of the room. I have sat in the same place for hours. My eyes are swollen from crying so much. I hear the elevator ding indicating someone is coming onto the floor. I hear running. I recognize the running. It is Rachel. I slide into the closet hiding like a child. I can't deal with anyone right now. I close the closet door as I hear her stop in the doorway of the office. I try to minimize my breathing so she doesn't hear me. She sits in my chair as I hear it squeak. "Josh she isn't here. Maybe she left?" she says crying. I can't hear what Josh is saying but I know he must be upset. "Please Josh stop crying" she says. I put my hand over my mouth stopping myself from making any noises thinking of putting Josh through this worry. I hear my brother come through the door as Rachel puts Josh on speaker phone. "The doorman said he saw her this morning but she isn't here Christopher" Rachel says. "Where could she go in the building?" Josh asks tearfully. "Well there is only one entrance so if she didn't leave through the front doors she is still here" Chris says. "I will go look around the building" Chris says as I hear him leave. "Rachel I am dying" Joshua says crying. Rachel starts up again as well. It is killing me hiding from them as well but I am lost. I feel like I am hyperventilating being in the closed space with my hightened emotions. I see Rachel get up from the chair as I peak through the crack of the door. I slowly open the closet door desperate for some air. I sit on the ground on my knees gasping. "She is here Josh! I have her" Rachel says seeing me sitting on the floor. She sinks to her knees as she places her phone on the ground. "Colleen where were you? Were you hiding?" Rachel ask wiping her face as she looks at me. She grabs my knees and watches me breathe. "Baby?" Josh calls through the phone. I sob. I shake my head and indicate to Rachel that I can't talk. "Why did you leave baby? I am so worried sweetheart" he says. Rachel and I are hugging as Chris comes racing in hearing the commotion. "Oh my god Colleen" he says crying himself with worry. "You never cry" I say giggling as he grabs my hand. "We are all sick with worry Colleen" he says sternly but with love. "Guys I want Joshua" I whisper to them as they both nod. "I am coming baby. I love you" Josh says as he hangs up.
