Chapter 68

Josh POV

The next few days I don't do much. My legs are immensely painful unless I am on painkillers, which I use a lot. Today Colleen brings Amy back as I sit on my laptop. "Hi Josh. How are you today?" she asks placing her stuff down. "Ok" I say putting my laptop to the side. "Ok lets look" she says as she unwraps my legs. I breathe in quickly as I feel the dressing lift up off my burnt skin a bit. Colleen comes and sits beside me but I don't want anyone near me right now. "Only been over a week. Unfortunately this is a long process with these types of burns" she says grabbing stuff from her bag. "Colleen, Can you grab me some clean towels please?" Amy asks. "Sure" she says as she jumps up and grabs some from our bathroom. "Ok Josh, going to soak these. This might sting. I want to make sure that the dead skin is rising to the top so it will allow new skin to grow" she says. I nod watching her start with my right leg. I feel her hand lift up my leg slightly as she throws a waterproof mat and towel underneath. She puts its back down and starts spraying it lightly with saline solution and then starts dabbing it. "Holy shit" I semi scream trying to be quiet. "I know Josh. I am sorry" she says as I close my eyes as she continues. "Baby" Colleen says as she grabs my hand. "Not now Colleen" I say abruptly. Colleen pulls away and watches Amy continue with the other leg. I have tears coming down my face trying to breathe. "Just going to place a new type of dressing on. Should feel better" Amy says as I feel a gel type dressing laid along my burns. Instantly it feels better. "Feels better doesn't it?" Amy asks smiling as she cleans up. I nod sitting up. "This means I will start coming back every three days instead of daily. Just no getting it wet until I come back" she says. "Ok" Colleen says. "Want some painkillers?" Amy asks. I nod. She gives me a shot in my thigh and I instantly relax. Colleen walks her out and comes back to sit with me as I compose myself. "Next time let me hold you sweetheart" she whispers rubbing my face. "I am a man Colleen. I can do this" I say quickly. She instantly looks hurt and gets up. "Colleen wait...baby???" I say as she leaves the room. "Just trying to be a loving and supportive wife Joshua. But if you don't need me then so be it" she says and walks out. Fuck! Great job Joshua. I reach across to the bottle and take another painkiller.
