I feel safe, protected within Jake's arms, he feels like home.

"Hey Nessie, how have you been?" Jake asks. I have to tilt my head up a bit to see his face and his eyes are smiling at me. I notice a gleam to his eyes, as I always have and wonder if anyone else sees it. I always notice but haven't said anything about it because I might just be seeing things.

"I've been fine. Thanks for coming up with that nickname, by the way," I say. It's cute but it's a bit annoying sometimes, especially now as I know where it's derived from – the Loch Ness Monster. I guess I'm going to be stuck with it. He laughed.

"You've had it since you were born, Renesmee was just a tongue twister. Your mum nearly killed me when she found out." He laughs. "I'll come in for a bit and say hi then I'm taking you somewhere." We begin walking back inside so Jake can say hi to everyone but where is he taking me?

"And where's that exactly? Aunt Alice and Gramps are here by the way."

"You'll find out soon enough."

We both walk into the lounge to say hi to everyone and he has a quick chat with Gramps and the others before we leave.

He shuts the door behind us and looks around, I know what he's wanting to do. He always transforms into his wolf form when we go somewhere in the forest around my home. I ride on his back and it's fun, but he always makes sure that I'm not too close just in case I get hurt.

"No one's around," I say, basically reading his mind. I don't need my dads' powers to get into Jake's head, I know him too well. Just before he is able to walk away and shift, he phone starts to ring.

He grabs his phone from his pocket. "Sorry Nes, I got to take this," he says apologetically. I nod. "Hey Embry, what's up?"

"Hey Jake, that part came that you were waiting on," he says through the line. Ah, they're talking about the garage Jake opened almost two years ago. Jake has always loved working on cars and bringing things back to their former glory. I remember how excited he was when he finally saved enough to buy a garage that had been closed down for years.

"Alright thanks Embry, I'll come in later and fix it up. He is going to be stoked," he says before hanging up.

"This man has been waiting for that part for over a month," he says, relief in his voice. "I'll quickly give him a call and let him know his car will be finished by the morning."

"Done," Jake says, smiling. I can't help but smile too. One thing I love about Jake is his passion for his work. I hope one day I can find something I am passionate in that much, especially as I will be spending a lot of time in whatever career I choose. Jake has taught me so much about mechanics, we're currently in the market to find something worthwhile fixing up together so I can learn more. It's interesting, yes, but I enjoy working on little projects with Jake. Embry and Seth both work with Jake at the garage, and when they are not too busy Jake and the others take some time to show me a thing or two.

"I will be right back," Jake says, walking a bit further into the woods. Mum and dad have warned Jake to not turn anywhere near I, as people can get hurt when they shift. Mum and dad would prefer if I was not around Jake in his wolf form at all, but that's something both Jake and I enjoy and so we keep this little secret to ourselves . . . well, as much as we can with my dad the mind reader. We always keep secrets but this little one won't hurt anyone. I stop when we are in far enough so they won't see but Jake keeps walking just a little bit further so he's not near me.

I love seeing him transform, it's mesmerising. He transforms and turns around to walk over to me. He always keeps a spare change of clothes nearby so he can change back to drop me off home. The only difficult thing is that I don't understand him and I can't read his mind like dad does, I can only send my thoughts to others by touching them. Sometimes it's strange though – I haven't mentioned it to anyone apart from Jake but it is as if I can hear his thoughts, but only sometimes. Jake said maybe due to our friendship and close bond, however I do not think so, as mum and others cannot do so. As for my power, it is pretty useless now but mum and dad said it was handy when I was younger because I couldn't speak so I told them what I wanted through touch.

Jake shrugs his head for me to approach after shifting. I walk over, picking up his clothes and placing them in the backpack Jake always brings with him when he knows he will be shifting. I shrug it onto my back before walking back over to Jake, climbing onto his back. I slide my arms around Jake's neck, resting my head on his lower neck. I look ahead, my chin on the base of his neck before he begins running through the woods. I thought he was going to take me to his place or one of the other's but he keeps going through the woods and realise he is approaching the meadow. The meadow is where my dad used to take my mum whilst she was still human and that was the name she gave it and . . . well . . . it kind of stuck. He stops before we get into the clearing of the meadow and I slide down from his back. I place the backpack down behind some trees and walk over into the meadow, leaving Jake alone to shift back and get changed.

I slip off my sandals and feel the grass underneath my feet and between my toes. I love this spot, I have been coming here since I was an infant with my parents and they told me that is was their secret spot but now that it is mine also. I look around the meadow, seeing the wind rustling the leaves of the trees surround the area and close my eyes. I can subtly feel the breeze, feel it flowing through my chestnut brown waves of hair. I believe the wind would feel a lot stronger to a human, and although I can feel it, my body is not impacted by the force of the wind. I would love to feel the strong differences in weather, in the wind, however can only feel it subtly due to my human side.

I don't come here often with my parents anymore, however I do come here with Jake a lot. It is a safe and familiar spot, far enough for our minds not to be read by my father and somewhere that, although relatively close to home, we can be alone. Jake has been taking me places since I was a child but ever since I showed him this place we mostly come here. I hear Jake walking away from the trees, coming out into the meadow and walking up to me.
