"It's okay Nes, we're nearly at Carlisle's, he'll know what to do," I hear Jake say. I can barely hear him now above the pain within my head.

I have lost all capacity to talk. I try to send my words to him through my unique way. "What happens if he doesn't? No one knew what I'd be like as a baby because none of them ever heard of something like me before. What makes you think Carlisle will know?"

"Because he has to. He has been studying it since you were born so he's able to help you with anything. That's how he knows what to do in your little check-ups. He'll know," he says but I don't know who he's trying to convince; me or him.

"What happens if I'm like any other new born?" I'm thinking about the thirst for blood.

"You won't be because you are already half vampire. And Bella was able to control it; perhaps because she knew about it, you do too through your own experience. This change or whatever you want to call it will be different. We are almost there Nes."

"Please stay with me, don't go," I think through the overbearing pain. The pain eases enough for me to open my eyes. Jake is looking down at me.

"Of course," he says, kissing me softly on the forehead.

"What are you two love birds doing here again?" Emmett calls out. I should've known. The house is covered with glass windows roof to floor. Jake's lips leave my forehead and I turn my head to face Emmett. Emmett is standing in the doorway and I think he's just realised that I am in Jake's arms. "What is going on?" he asks, heading over to us.

"Jake, leave it, please," I plead. Emmett will freak out but Jake doesn't listen to me.

"Nes isn't right. She has signs of being ill but vampires don't get ill. Earlier she was feeling queasy and light headed with severe headaches but she convinced me nothing was wrong. I am not convinced anymore, something is going on and we need Carlisle."

"Nes, are you okay?" Emmett asks, worried. I don't want them freaking out about me but I have to tell them everything if Carlisle is going to help me.

"I don't know, but we do have a theory."

"Let's hear it."

"We'll talk about it with everyone. I don't want to have to repeat it to everyone," I say, before grimacing again in pain. "My head hurts so much," I murmur before nestling back into Jake's chest.

"Okay, can't you walk or something?" Emmett asks, concerned now due to my grimace. I look up at Jake and he shakes his head slightly.

"Put me down."

"Nes, no," Jake says. I know there is no changing his mind. I nod.

I face Emmett to explain. "When I felt light headed before I couldn't stand up, I stumbled and fell."

"Let Jake carry you then. Let's go inside to the others," Emmett says, opening the door for Jake and me. Jake carries me inside and places me on the couch in the living room. Jake sits against an arm rest and I rest into his side.

"Everyone! Nes and Jake are here. Everyone come down please!" Emmett calls out.

Everyone is down here within seconds. Rosalie, Alice, Jasper, Carlisle and Esme.

"What's wrong?" Carlisle asks.

"Something is going on with Nes," Emmett answers. All of them look at me with Jake by my side.

"Are you okay?" Alice asks while walking up to me to give me a hug.

"I don't know," I confess.

"She has been feeling weird, having signs of illness but vampires don't get sick. She has felt queasy and light headed. Well that's what she told me," Jake says.

"When I felt light headed it was as if I didn't have the energy to stand up, I stumbled and fell. We have a theory though."

"What is it?" Emmett asks.

"Well I am half vampire, half human, maybe I have to go through some sort of change to turn into a full vampire." I thought I'd have to explain more but they understand.

"Could she even go through a change?" Jasper asks Carlisle.

"Possibly, she is half human so maybe she does go through a change to turn completely."

"But don't you have to get bitten?" Rose asks.

"The vampire venom in me already probably starts it. I have to be a certain age and then my body automatically begins the process," I answer Rose, in a rush. The pain has come back. I close my eyes tightly, rubbing my temples again. Rose gasps, as if just noticing that the sides of my head are covered in blood for the first time.

"When the pain was severe she was digging into her head. I tried to stop her," Jake says. He sounds upset so I nuzzle into his side more.

"It's not your fault," I say through my thoughts to him. He wraps his arm around me.

"How long have you had these feelings for?" Carlisle asks.

"The first time I had the head ache was this morning, I think," I confess, trying to remember. "It's strong now and then but then weakens but it hasn't gone away." Jake looks at me now and I realise that I told him I didn't feel anything a couple of times. "Sorry, I didn't want to worry you."

"Well now I'm worried," Jake says. I sigh.

"I'm sorry," I say again, trying to ignore the pain. I bite down on my lip, the feeling of my own blood wetting my lips as I try to stop.
