Chapter 4- Part 3

"So, what do you want to do?" I ask.

"I don't know, just talk, considering you can barely stand," Jake says, his voice laced with worry. I know I am failing to lie to him about this, he just knows me far too well.

"Jake, I'm fine, really. I'll tell you different if I'm not." I'm still not feeling a hundred percent but unless it gets really bad I'm not saying anything. I don't want to worry him if it's over nothing. He lies down on the grass with his hands behind his head. I lie down right next to him, resting my head on his shoulder. He moves one hand from behind his head and wraps his arm around me.

"Renesmee-" he usually says Nes so this is serious what he's about to say. I turn my head so I am facing him and we lock eyes."-you have to tell me the truth about these things. I know you, I know when you are not telling the truth and you're not now. I know something is wrong, speak to me."

"Jake, I am telling the truth, I felt queasy and a bit light headed before. When I tell you I don't know why it's because I don't. I don't get sick or anything so I have no clue what it was. Yes, I did feel this a little earlier, but just then it came back. I do not know what is causing it," I say, now the concern evident in my own voice.

I am telling the truth, just not all of it. I do feel mostly fine now but the feeling is still here. It's just not as strong at the moment as before but I still feel a bit light headed and nauseous. He sighs in relief. Maybe now he does believe me completely.

"Okay," he says as he moves a bit of my hair out of my face. "You're so beautiful."

"No I'm not, I'm plain compared to Rose and the others," I reply, barely over a whisper.

"No you're not, you're so beautiful, Nes. You just don't see it."

"You're blinded by your imprint," I say to him. He laughs.

"Oh Nes, you have so much to learn," he says, slightly shaking his head to the side.

"Oh Jake, be quiet for two seconds will ya?" I say, annoyingly.

"I'm serious Nes, you are anything but plain."

"Well we can keep arguing all day if we want."

"Not really, it's"-he checks his watch- "half past five."

"The day has gone far too fast," I say, disappointed.

"I know, it will start to go dark around half past six- seven o'clock. So we're lucky if we have got another hour and a half."

"I just want to stay here with you," I say as I cuddle up closer to him.

"I'll come by your place tomorrow?"

"We're going hunting tomorrow," I say, sadly. I completely forgot about it. We haven't gone hunting in so long so dad said we'd go this week on Sunday. This week has gone so fast I didn't even realise that the hunting trip is tomorrow. "I would've completely forgotten about it if you didn't ask."

"Maybe afterwards?"

"I don't know when we're going or how long we'll be."

"Just call me when you're back at your place."

"Okay."

I get our family's joke about the 'vegetarian' thing but I hate having to kill animals. Yes, it's better than being a murderer and killing people but we are still killing living creatures. And if we didn't we would go crazy with thirst. I'm a monster.

"What are you thinking about?' Jake asks. I must've been frowning because he now knows something is up, again. I look away from him.

"How can you love me? I'm a monster that has to kill animals for blood or I'd go crazy with thirst. Yeah, it's better than killing people but I'm still a murderer." He puts his hand under my chin, trying to make me face him but I don't.

"Look at me." I look up and his face is sincere.

"You are anything but a monster. I've had problems with the Cullen's in the past but now that I know them personally I know your family is anything but monsters. The vampires that torment people and kill them, they are monsters. Not you, or Edward, Bella or any of the others. Do you understand?" I can't talk so I nod.
