I lock my doors
A and give away the key
Maybe hoping to open them
Again someday when I
Feel better about myself
Remember what it is to
Absolutely trust
In what I can
Decide is right to share
Only to those I deem worthy
From careful evaluation
Waiting in this state of a
Hindering child's realm made from
Assumptions and predictions
Towards how situations come at me,
Insecurity is what they
Call it I believe
And maybe that's right
Never caring, always doubting in the
Beliefs of what I will amount to
Eventually, and resorting to indulgent
Conversation with those that seek to
Overthrow the path life set for me
Margins, standards, and all in its whole
Even so, I play pretend that certain memories never happened
.....especially the ones that hurt most.
