I lie down,

Close my eyes,

Count to ten,

And there in my sleep,

I, have seen

Forever.

These memories,

So real yet intangible,

Not mine,

Not mine.

So from where do they come?

I know but yet,

I am permitted to forget.

They are mine as I know them to be,

But not now.

But from somewhere near

And far all at once,

All I can do is look to a past before mine,

When I do the lines from that hymn,

Surface once more.

"Lead me, guide me"

I plead the souls of mine,

"Walk beside me, Help me find my way"

No answer.

No answer.

All that can be done is have shown to me

What lies before, and what can be.

While asleep, I am still very much awake.

In a time in this life near but far away,

I show my own way,

I am not with my body,

I am off in the memories I hold fondly,

And I, the fire whose body is left behind,

Help and show,

What there is to keep and change.

I am happy,

I am sad,

I am empty,

But still I try to pick up the fragments,

Found in places near but far, left behind,

Within them I change the fates that cross me.

Without aid, where would we be.

I am becoming the flame I seek to touch,

The flame I sought for.

Left in the night, but yet still leading in her way.

I will be a light to lead the way.
