Chapter 16

I walk up to the front door praying my brothers are all sleeping. I am just glad I borrowed Jai's key. I really need to get my own key, this way my brothers won't feel the need to wait up for me. I close the door quietly behind me and make my way to my room trying to not make any noise. It is almost 1 in the morning and I do not want to wake anyone up and explain why I arrived home so late, and explain why it looks like I have been crying and hurt.... My cheeks are stained with tears, my wrist are bruised and I look exhausted.

"Ow", I groan stomping my toe into the little table that sits in our hallway. I always hated that table. It has no fucking point. I always walk into it.

"Anna", I hear a small voice speak as I pass by the twins room.

Jai's pompom from his beanie appears in his doorway. I will never understand why he sleeps only in boxer shorts and a beanie.

"Are you okay?", his voice is raspy but full of concern as he rubs his sleepy eyes.

"Yea I am sorry if I woke you".

"Have you been crying?".

"What no. I am just tired". However I can't stop the tears from filling up into my eyes. I bite down on my bottom lip trying to control my tears.

Jai's thumb glides over my cheek. "What happened?", he whispers.

"Jai I really don't want to talk about it please. I just need some sleep", I turn but Jai grabs a hold to my wrist.

"Ow" I squeal.

Jai looks down to my bruised and swollen wrist.

"Did someone hurt you?", he stutters.

"No I fell off Andrea's penny board and my wrist hit the payment. I am fine".

Jai examines my wrist. "It doesn't look fine. You should put something on that".

"No Jai please I just want to-", I am cut off when a surprised shriek escapes my lips as Jai picks me up and throws me over his shoulder.

"Jai put me down!", I protest but he it doesn't listen.

"Shut up I am helping you", he mutters, as he walks me over into the kitchen. He places me onto the kitchen counter. "Don't move", he demands.

He opens up the freezer and pulls out a bag of frozen peas. He walks back over to me and places it on my wrist pressing down gently. The cold package stings and is uncomfortable on my skin.

"It hurts, and it is so cold".

"Sorry", he mumbles applying less pressure.

"So what actually happened. I am not that gullible, that story does not sound believable. If you fell you would have scrapes and cuts. Tell me who did this now", he demands.

"Jai I-".

"Anna", he harshly speaks.

"I swear if someone laid a hand on you".

"Jai please don't worry about it. It won't happen again".

"Anna who did this", he barks scaring me. Anger hides behind his soft innocent eyes.

I look down not having the courage to look Jai in the eyes. I can't rat out my boyfriend, which happens to be my brothers friend. It was a misunderstanding. It will never happen again. Daniel never had intentions on hurting me... Did he?

"It doesn't matter please Jai just leave it alone. Please don't tell Beau or Luke. I promise you I am fine. It was all a misunderstanding. You know I would come to you if it's wasn't". I show Jai a half smile but the frown which lays upon his lips stays.
