Erza's P.O.V
I dropped Meldy, who landed with a thud on the ground. I ran to Jellal's side, and investigated his injuries. He wasn't moving. I felt for his pulse shakily, the fear coursing through my veins rapidly. I brought my fingers to his skin. It was cold, and felt inhumane.
Tears immediately formed in my eyes, as I watched his chest.
No rise, no fall.
His ever-present warmth was now absent from him, his energetic being was put to rest.
The town clock chimed in the background, signaling it was now twelve o'clock.
"My, my. Now isn't this a pretty shade of pink," A woman's voice said happily after the ringing had stopped. I spun around to see a young girl playing with Meredy's hair.
She was skinny, far too skinny to be healthy. She had long brown hair and cheekbones that carved more than framed her face.
"Who are you?" I asked, my teary eyes narrowed in suspicion as I watched her tiny physique.
"Who am I? The girl whose name will go down in history for ending the world, of course. Can you imagine it?" She spoke dreamily, getting to her feet, "Asmodai!" She announced, using hand motions to demonstrate her name being spelled out in lights.
I planted my feet into the ground heavily as I sent a sharp gaze her way, "So you did this?" I asked, rage filling my eyes. All sadness drained from me as I was left with nothing but the need for revenge.
"I saved him! Soon, the world is going to burn. Do you know how long it takes for a human body to burn? Seven hours! Incredible, really. But, a human being can live up to 5 minutes being cooked like a pot roast. It might not sound like a lot, but imagine holding your breath for a minute. Suffocating slowly, your lungs screaming for air. Imagine breathing in the hot flames, being cooked from the inside out! Each second feels like a minute, and there's 300 seconds in five-"
"SHUT UP!" I screamed over her, "I don't care for your sickening, care-free attitude towards torturing innocent people," Pure hatred burned hotter than any flame in my eyes as I paced towards her, my katanas requipting into my hands.
"I'm going to make sure you pay for what you've done, Asmodai," I spat, raising my blades towards her.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk," She clicked her tongue, "You might not wanna get me mad, I don't have time to deal with you. In fact, I'm already late. So I'd have to kill you as quickly and un-enjoyably as possible."
"I'm a worthy opponent, I'd watch my tongue if I were you!" I snarled at her, running forward to begin our fight.
She didn't move at all.
Even as my blade rose and swung right at her face, she didn't flinch or break eye contact with me.
My blade stopped moving just as it pressed against her cheek.
I pressed harder, wanting it to hit her more severely.
It didn't budge, even when I put everything I had into making it move.
"I must be getting rusty..." She smirked, tilting her head away from the blade.
A small cut lingered on her skin, as a drop of blood slowly formed.
My blade still wouldn't move.
"You're quick, Scarlet. I love a quick fighter. Too bad I use kinetic magic, right?" She smiled.
Kinetic magic was a lost magic. An incredibly dark, powerful magic that hardly anyone used at the time it was created. There weren't even books written on kinetic magic is was so rare and old. How did she come across it?
There was one loophole to her magic, though.
"Not too bad at all," I muttered, raising my fist to punch her dead in the nose.
She stumbled backwards, holding her nose which was also now bleeding. "Wha--?"
"You can't hold two magic entity's at once. My weapon was manifested from my magic, and I used my magic again to add force behind my punch," I growled at her, landing another punch on her abdomen,
"Kinetic magic allows you to control the movement of any number of objects that don't contain ethernano, but you can't control the movement of two magic-centered entity's at once- You just can't!" I shouted, as another punch was given to her jawline.
She stumbled backwards a bit more, looking hurt.
Until she straightened herself up. She looked at me with a crazed look in her eye, "You should really pay attention, Scarlet," She cooed.
My eye's widened, remembering:
My katana.
I turned my head slightly, keeping Asmodai in my peripheral vision. I saw my sword being held at Meredy's chest, ready to pierce her at any moment.
I gritted my teeth angrily, knowing she had the upper-hand now.
"Asmodai!" I gave her a disgusted look.
"Thanks for the little magic lesson, but I really should get going. I wouldn't want my guild mates to miss me too much, would I?"
"You're a coward!" I shouted at her, unable to do anything.
"Oh, no honey. I'll give you the fight you want another time. So if you'd let me get going, I'd let your cute girlfriend live another day, got it?"
I didn't respond as I gave her what she wanted.
She turned her back to me, and began walking away confidently. What a fool.
"Requipt!" I called, making the katana vanish and my bisento appear.
"Sorry, you're too late," She said, teleportation crystal in hand, "By the way, I hope you have good story to tell when there's three unconscious bodies around you and local police on the way," She laughed before she vanished just as Tick had.
She was gone.
It was cold.
And I was alone.
"This way!" A man's voice called sternly, as footsteps approached. I dropped my blade to the ground, and my knees soon followed. I stared blankly into space not knowing what to say. Would they believe me if I told the truth? Would the magic council lock me up and blame it all on me? Would they find Jellal?
Flashlights swarmed me as a group of at least six men surrounded me. I felt like I went deaf as their questions seemed to blur together.
I am Erza Scarlet,
and I have no idea how to prove I didn't kill anyone.
