Tell me,
What's the worst part of being a parent?
---
Some may say,
It's watching your child grow up.
Watch them turn from
A little human larvae,
To a full-grown adult,
And leave you behind.
---
Some may say
It's when your child goes through hardship.
When their heart is breaking,
And there's only so much you can do
To help.
---
Some may say
It's when your child lies to you
Goes behind your back
Does things they shouldn't be doing.
Pretends they're not using you.
Says they don't love you,
When confronted.
---
---
But I think
That the worst part of being a parent
Is when your child is stand in the kitchen
Arms crossed, eyes defiant
(Even when you both know they're dying inside.)
Saying,
"Yeah I cut
Yeah I skip meals
Yeah I do drugs
Yeah I cut class
Yeah I break the rules
Yeah I do everything you tell me not to.
So what?"
---
"It's not like you can do anything."
---
Happy Mother's Day 😜

PoetryUPDATE: I wrote these when I was 13 and depressed all the time. I'm 18 now, and, fortunately, life's been going well! Unfortunately, these poems are fairly cringe, so read at your own risk. Just some poems that I write when I'm in the poetic mood...
