She
She wears ripped clothing
Not as a fashion statement
But because she never fixes them.
---
She
She's always dirty
Because she doesn't let cleanliness
Distract her from her passion
---
She
She sings in the streets
As loud as she likes
No matter what others think.
---
She
She's skinny as anything
Not because she hates her weight
But because she forgets to eat sometimes.
---
She
She walks alone after dark
Because people are too afraid of her
To hurt her.
---
She
She doesn't go to school
She can't read or write
But it doesn't bother her.
---
She
She has no family
But she doesn't know
That she had one to begin with.
---
She
She goes anywhere she wants
She thinks the best of everyone
She's not afraid of anything.
---
And they say
Pity
Pity her
So simple minded
She'll never amount to anything
She'll never get anywhere in life.
---
And they say
Pity her
Head in the clouds
Doesn't understand reality.
Can never think deep thoughts.
---
And they say
Pity
Pity
Pity her
---
---
---
I envy her

Scratching the Surface (Poems)
PoetryUPDATE: I wrote these when I was 13 and depressed all the time. I'm 18 now, and, fortunately, life's been going well! Unfortunately, these poems are fairly cringe, so read at your own risk. Just some poems that I write when I'm in the poetic mood...
