The Star

I found her in her room.

Sitting on a chair

Bedecked in jewels

Topped with a crown

Draped in gold silks

She sat with her head down

Turned away

---

"Congrats"

I said

"You've done it

You've become a star"

"Look outside.

Everyone loves you

Everyone admires you.

Everything you've ever wanted

Is right within reach"

"Tell me,"

I said.

"How does it feel

to live your dream?"

---

She turned then

Caked with jewels

Weighed down by a crown

Swallowed in gold silks

"I hate it",

She whispered

Voice half choked

"I think I'm going to drown"
