The One Who Couldn't

He walked through the crowd of people. Familiar faces smiles , friends,ex girlfriend's,close friends,and best friends. He expected to see each and everyone here. That was no surprise.

You however the girl he lost. The one who almost made him say the words. You didn't go to parties often. What's the point? You stayed home watched Netflix. However hadn't you have just broken up with him your close friend wouldn't of dragged you to get drunk.

So there you sat at the island of some guys parents kitchen where Vodka,Tequila,and Rum and of course classic beers were spread in front of you.

"Alright. I have made the ultimate mixture. Sure to get you drunk and 100% bad breakup memory loss.",she grinned deviously.

You groaned. "I am not drinking that!" She sighed looking at you. "I'm underage!",you yelled.

"Everyone here is idiot.",she rolled her eyes pushing the drink towards you."Oh look who's here.",she said pointing to your ex boyfriend.,she said smiling down at her drink.

You turned around and looked at him. It only took a second for you to feel all emotions at once. The anger he caused from being so stupid and careless. The sadness from never actually caring about you and the heartache every fight you'd have. Then the love you had for him. In which every time you see him you could never actually stop loving him.

You grabbed the drink and took three non-stop gulps before she snatched it away from you."Do you want to die!?",she gasped. You shook your head and burped.

"Nasty.",she laughed with you.

He looked over watching you. The smile,the hair the eyes. Everything he lost but he ached to have it back.  He finally swallowed his pride and walked over to her tapping her shoulder.

"Oh my god.",your friend said walking away.

"Y/N."

You breathed in before facing him.

"Oh. Lucas hi.",you said putting on a fake smile.

"You don't have to be formal Y/ N I know you hate me."

You chuckled. "Then why did you come over here?",you squinted.

"Because.",he said. She looked at him. "Because? Luke look I don't have the time-",she said starting to get up

He put his hands out."Hear me out Y/N okay just hear me out."

She sighed falling back in the chair as she glared at him.

"What?"

"I know you broke up with me is because I never said the words you wanted to hear. I have never said those words to any other girl I have dated-"

"Oh my god. Luke I left you because you are everywhere. You're too wild you get drunk every night. Your famous friends sneak you into clubs. You cheated on me several times with girls who you don't even remember their names. So it wasn't even worth the screwing up. I was so stupid to forgive you!"

"Y/N-"

"Shut up Luke! I am about here with you!",you yelled putting your hand up."You have had to be the worst boyfriend I have ever had! And all those nights I spent crying over you for what? You're fine on your feet dancing. I was any other girl who you gained their heart as a trophy of what used to be.  They call you 'The one who couldn't! All the girls who you've ever dated. The one who can never say I love you. You never will love me. I gave up! ",You yelled standing up.

"That is not how I felt at all! Don't you dare go there!",he said standing taller than you.

"Its not fair how you treated me! Isn't it enough that I actually...",you started to cry poking his chest harshly.

He grabbed your hands in his in your vulnerable state and pressed them against his chest. He pressed his forehead against yours. " You actually what?"

"I-I actually..",you stuttered looking into his eyes.

"Dammit Y/N just say it please.",he whispered.

You moved away from him."You don't deserve them."

"You do. And I do. I really do love you. Okay? I love you so God damn much I fucking cried every night you weren't in my arms. Every night I didn't get to play with your hair or stay up talking about shit the world doesn't take for notice anymore. Every night I would lay awake. Dreaming of those y/e/c eyes."

She had tears in her eyes as he pulled on her aching soul. She'd waited so long to hear the words he would never say. They didn't even feel real. He grabbed her hand and pulled her close to him playing with her hair.

"You don't mean it.",she tried to convince herself.

"I do. With every heartbeat in my body I do.",his nose had gone red as he gave her his heart."I'd love you until infinity was over."

"Luke-",you started.

"Don't.",he said pushing you closer to finally kiss you. The kiss he'd dream of after you were gone. The kiss you'd feel lingering on your lips for an eternity.
