You put another book on the shelf and walked away to the other section. Your eyes roamed the authors initials as you put the last book into place. He sighed and grabbed your waist pulling you against him. You turned your head as he tried to kiss you.

Your eyes widened as you looked around and slapped his arm.

"And she speaks.",he laughed.

You glared at him and he opened his phone to check his calendar.

"Oh. I see. It's October fourteenth. Which is probably why you cussed me out yesterday. And the new guitar in your room oh my god baby-"

"Oh save it.",you said walking away.

That night Michael had done serious shopping until he found the perfect gift. At two in the morning he knocked on your window until you were scared your parents would wake.

"What are you doing here!?",you whisper yelled.

"I am so sorry I forgot our anniversary. So I wanna make it up to you.", he got down on one knee and your heart dropped.

"Michael-"

"Hear me out babe." He pulled a tiny velvet box from Janis hoodie pocket and opened it. It was covered in tiny little diamonds and you started to tear up.

"This isn't a marriage proposal. But it is a promise that one day in our hopeful future that I will get down on this same knee and look into those same eyes as I ask you to marry me. So I give you this promise ring to promise you a future. A future that is together."

He slipped it onto your finger and you pulled him up to kiss him.

"I promise! I promise!",you squealed hugging him.

"Oh thank god for a second I thought you were going to dump me.",he smiled kissing you.
