He let go of me and sighed.

"So how's it been?"

I shrugged. He nodded.

He looked over to his wife and she smiled encouragingly and walked out the room.

"So you're in eight grade right? Freshman?",he asked.

You raised your brows.

"I'm a junior. In highschool.",I said.

"Oh wow. Damn that's. That's.",he breathed looking at me with a sympathetic look. "That's a long time."

"10 years to be exact.",I said oh so sassily.

My mother told me never disrespect your parents but he isn't considered one in my book.

"I'm sorry Amy-"

"Amanda.",I corrected. A bit too cocky may I add he was still my father.

"Amy.",he said slightly stern.

I looked to the side.

"I know I fucked up. I wasn't there for half of your life but I'm gonna be there for the rest of it.",he said.

"Okay. I'm actually pretty tired. I think I'm gonna head up stairs.",I said and grabbed my bag. I carried it upstairs and went into the room. I sighed turning on the light.

It brightened up and it was the room I used when I came to visit at 7. I only visited my grandmother and my uncle though. He was nowhere to be seen.

I fell asleep quickly the time zones fucked me up. I set an alarm clock to get used to the Australia time zone but it was harder than you'd think.

I woke up asleep. I figured I shouldn't go down there a mess. I didn't know him well enough yet. I made my way to the bathroom freshens up and came out brand new.

I walked downstairs smelling bacon and all that jazz. But when I saw my uncle jack I lit up.

I gasped and with a giant smile. He turned around and with the same reaction opened his arms. I jumped into them and he let out a groan.

"Look at how big you've gotten!",he said giving me a bear hug.

I smiled and he kissed my cheek. I saw uncle Ben next to him and I gave the same reaction. They always visited while they could. Told me stories. Even Celeste Jacks wife.

They weren't my fathers but they treated me like their daughter. I walked into the living room and saw my dad sitting with his band. I actually liked them. More of Ashton cause we both have daddy issues.

He stood up and walked towards me. I ran.

He gave me a bear hug and I was smiling harder than I have since she died.

"Hey Amanda.",Luke said with quick awkward eye contact.

"Hi Luke.",I responded.

I was still hugging Ashton when he pulled away.

"I missed you so much.",I smiled.

"I need to talk to you.",he said. I nodded and he led me outside.

I sat down and looked at him.

"Look Amy. I know you hate that guy. I know how it is. I would feel the same but he's trying. You got six years. I don't even know my other grandmother. Or his family. What you've got now is golden all most. Please just let him try.",he said.

"Ten years Ash. Tell me you wouldn't be the slightest bit mad."

"I would. But I'd get over it. Because I wouldn't have any other choice. You're still a minor. It sucks but forgiving him is do-able."

I sighed and leaned against the porch banister. The sky was pretty. It was bright blue with white fluffy clouds

"Its not exactly his fault. Once your mom and him divorced he was a total wreck. It took a year to get him back and running. I mean I know you must hate  Chrissy but. She woke him back up. He married her and he couldn't go see you cause he knew he would fall in live with her again and you were too old to be going through another divorce with the same person. When he got the phone call we had to cancel the fucking show."

I walked back into the house seeing him smile and happy. We both deserved it as much as the next. I sat down next to him smiling and he smiled back hoping it wouldn't disappear.

"Hey dad."
