Chapter 13
I rush to get out of my car and run to Harry's apartment door. My hand knocks roughly on the door in no specific pattern, the door swings open. Harry's annoying roommate Niall stares at me, not particularly shocked as he munches on his sandwich. I almost laugh at the sight, but I move past him and into the apartment, calling out to Harry.
He comes bounding down the stares and his eyes smile, as they land on me. My eyes rake over his black Ramones t-shirt and skinny jeans, damn.
I can feel my saliva pooling in my mouth, and I close my lips to make sure I don't literally drool.
"Sexy." He says with a wink and my heart beats faster.
"Duh." I say, returning the wink and he chuckles. Harry gets closer to me and I daringly lean in and peck him on the cheek with my red stained lips. His eyes dart to my face and a slow smile spreads across his lips. I can feel my cheeks starting to warm and I direct my attention to the lipstick print on his cheek. "Oops, lipstick." I try to distract him from the kiss, by pointing to his cheek. He shrugs and takes my hand, and we head out the door.
From the corner of my eye, I glance at the lip stick stain I left on his cheek. I'm not sure why, but I'm glad he didn't wipe it off.
Hand in hand, we walk to the car. I buckle my seatbelt and I can feel Harry's eyes on me. "It smells like--" before he can finish his sentence I press my index finger to his lip, silencing him. "Wait, just wait. Don't worry about the smell, ignore it." I instruct him with a grin. He laughs, but continues to stare at me. "Well where are we going?" He asks and I look at him. I lean inwards and gesture for him to do the same, just as he had once done to me. When we were inches apart I could feel Harry's warm breath on my lips, I focused myself on what I needed to say. One look at Harry, and I had forgotten what I was gonna say again, he was gazing at my lips and I subconsciously licked them. "It's a secret." I whisper and Harry erupts into a fit of laughter. He leans back, and smiles. "Then let's go, Karls." I grin at his nickname and put the car into drive.
The entire car drive my heart was trying to escape my chest, I was so nervous. Harry sang along to the radio in a deep voice, that partly calmed my nerves. I followed the road that I was only fairly familiar with and parked in the same place as last time. Harry was beyond confused, especially when I unbuckled my seatbelt. I reached into the backseat and pulled out the bag of McDonalds and handed it to Harry. "Hold this." I said and climbed out of the car Harry takes the bag and gets out of the car too. I open my trunk and pull put a large blanket, fumbling to get a good grip on it. I slam the trunk shut and glance at Harry he's staring at me with a curious smile.
"C'mon." I say as I direct him towards an area with a tree. I drop the blanket onto the floor and spread it out, gesturing for Harry to sit down. Harry clumsily sits down on the blanket and begins pulling the boxes of chicken nuggets out of the bag. He chuckles at all of the sauces before turning the bag upside down so all of the sauces pour out. Harry's large hands open one of the chicken nugget boxes and I watch as he carefully selects a sweet and sour sauce amoungst the blend. "So Karleigh, do you plan on explaining what we're having a picnic in a cemetery?" Harry asks, his British accent heavy in his voice.
I shrug. "I dunno... Well you know how you took me to people watch?" I ask and Harry nods. "I was thinking, we could grave guess." I explain and Harry raises his eyebrows.
"Grave guess? Explain." He says while dunking his chicken nugget in some sauce.
"Ok, so after we're done eating, were gonna choose random graves, then were gonna attempt to guess how they died, and the type of person they were..." My voice trails off.
Harry nods his head as his eyes scan over the graveyard. "Creative." He murmurs.
A wave of nervousness washes over me and my cheeks flush. "No, it's stupid. I should've come up with something else..." I panic aloud, avoiding Harry's eyes.
