Chapter 22
Harry's POV
Relief washes through me as I awaken from a dream about Karleigh, I literally cannot escape her. It's going on two in the afternoon, and I know I slept in so late due to my lousy sleep last night.
I grab my phone off of my nightstand and decide on calling Karleigh. My heart is racing as the phone rings, to my relief and horror I received Karleigh's voicemail. I'm not going to bother leaving a message, so I hang up. The small amount of hope that I had, has vanished and I'm pissed at myself.
A loud bang comes from downstairs and I walk downstairs to see what Niall's gotten into this time. When I come into the kitchen there's about five pots lying on the floor and Niall is wearing sunglasses.
"What the hell." I state and Niall groans.
"Dude, keep your voice down for fucks sake." He's whispering and massaging his temples. I actually find this quite humorous, considering I'm the only one who typically doesn't drink.
"Killer hangover?" I ask.
"Shhh!!! Jesus!"
"Please don't call me that, my name is Harry." I tease and Niall chuckles softly.
He shuffles around the kitchen attempting to clean up his mess with the pans quietly. Of course he managed to make a mess with the loudest objects in the house. Every time he grabs a pan, it bangs against another pot causing a loud clashing sound. Niall is probably facing torture right now, but I don't bother to help.
"Where'd you run off to last night? I didn't see you and Karleigh after a while and you guys never said goodbye." Niall's voice is very quiet and I can't believe yet another person is bringing up Karleigh. I can't help the glare that I direct towards Niall at the mention of her name.
"Sorry, man." Is all he says after taking in my look. I wish I could see his facial expression but his sunglasses are covering most of his face.
I pad into the living room and turn on the television, lowering the volume in curtesy of Niall's headache. Beside me, my phone begins to ring loudly. From the kitchen, I hear Niall groan. My hands lunge for my phone, hoping its Karleigh.
"Hello?" I ask.
"Harry, honey?" My mother's voice calls through the phone, and I feel my shoulders slouch.
"Yes Mom?" Disappointment clear in my tone.
"Don't seem so excited." She teases. "Anyways, tomorrow night your coming to dinner with Robin and I." She says and I internally groan.
"Do I have any say in this?" I complain and ironically enough, my mom laughs.
"No, you don't. So be ready by six."
"Where are we going?" I ask her, but receive no response in return. I pull my phone away from my face and glance at the screen, only to find that my dearest Mother had hung up.
I set my phone down beside me on the couch and turn the television off.
"What's going on now?" Niall asks from behind the sofa.
"Honestly, I have no idea. My Mom is forcing me to dinner with her and my step dad tomorrow." I sigh, and stand up from the couch.
Niall chuckles evilly at my misery, before slowing making his way to his bedroom. Probably to go back to bed, no doubt, he needs to sleep off his hangover.
After a moment of standing alone in the living room I walk into the kitchen and grab my keys off of the counter. I'm not certain of where I'm going, but I need to get out of the house.
