Chapter 94

Karleigh's POV

The auditorium is half empty still by the time I arrive. Marcus is know where in sight as I find an empty seat, near the back of the auditorium.

Playing games on my phone, I waited for class to start. Small talk is heard amongst the students as we all wait for Dr. Mallory to arrive.

People start to pour into the auditorium in a massive wave, but I don't bother paying them any attention. Instead I keep my face buried into my phone.

Shuffling is heard nearby as someone takes a seat near me, but I don't look up.

"Good evening Karleigh." Marcus's familiar voice says from beside me. My posture stiffens but I don't move my eyes away from the screen of my phone.

"Hello." I hum.

"Ouch, cold shoulder. That's harsh, what'd I do?" He asks, I can hear a smile in his voice.

His question doesn't amuse me, I don't smile, my lips stay pressed in a flat line.

"Nothing in particular." I monotonously remark.

"You're the one who snuck into my frat house." Marcus adds.

I snap my head up to look at him, visciously glowering at him. Under my darkened eyes he cowers slightly into his seat.

"That has nothing to do with it." I hiss at him.

"You sure, cause you seem pretty pissed about it." His eyebrows are raised.

"I'm not pissed about anything." I snap.

Marcus lets out a long huff. "Do you just feel uncomfortable around me cause I saw you naked?"

At his mention of this I glance down at my watch, to see I'm two short minutes away from class starting. Before I second guess myself, I stand to my feet. Marcus shoots me a curious look but I ignore him.

Spotting one of the teacher assistants on the outskirts of the room, I make my way over to her. The kind looking girl, who can't be much older than me, eyes me as I near her.

"Hi Marissa, I'm Karleigh." I say with a smile as I read her small name tag. "Something major has actually come up, so I was wondering if I could get the reading assignment that I'll need to read to be ready for next weeks class..." I trail off uncertainly.

She smiles a small smile, not exposing her teeth, and hands me a slip of paper that has all next class's requirements.

"Thanks so much!" I gush, before turning away and rushing out the auditorium.

"Karleigh!" I hear Marcus yell after me, but I don't turn back, I continue in my hurried pace.

My car is parked a few blocks away, so I walk quickly in the dark to my car. There are very few street lights and the few that are on, continuously flicker.

Murmured voices are chatting behind me but I don't glance over at them, afraid to draw attention to myself.

"Hey sweetie," a male voice calls from behind. I don't stop walking, just speed up my pace.

Footsteps approach me quickly, and someone grabs my arm forcefully.

"Hey sweetie, where you goin'?" the dark haired boy, around my age asks.

"None of your damn business." I growl and attempt to yank my arm away but his grip is too strong.

"Come here, come meet my friends." He says in a slimy voice.
