Chapter 90
Karleigh's POV
With Harry's arm locked around my waist, we strut in unison into the office.
Patricia the snobby, jersey desk reception pops her bubble gum as she watches me enter the office. Her makeup covered eyes take in Harry greedily, and I don't hide the glare I'm directing towards her. I fight the growing urge I have to step in front of Harry and cut off her view.
"Dr. Porter is ready to see you." She says in her annoying tone. I nod curtly, and lead Harry by the hand to my superintendent's office.
Once again the cherry colored, wooden door to Dr. Porter's office is closed, and I politely knock on it.
"Enter." His response booms through the door and I twist the handle, letting Harry and I in.
Dr. Porter is seated behind his desk but when he looks up and sees me entering he stand up. "Karleigh, pleasure to see you again." He beams, extending his hand for me to shake.
"Likewise, Dr. Porter." I smile back at him politely. His eyes flicker over my shoulder to Harry.
"This is Harry, my boyfriend. Harry, Dr. Porter my superintendent." I introduce gesturing between the two of them. They shake hands and the three of us take seats.
I shuffle through my purse in search of my schedule, that I still have yet to read. When my hands find the folded piece of paper, I hand it over to Dr. Porter.
His large hands accept the paper from me, and he unfolds each of the creases, smoothing the paper out upon his desk. His brown, beady eyes scan over the sheet and a small smile grows on his face.
Shit, I really should've read over it first.
Harry's hand rests on my thigh and I give it a gentle squeeze to express my nervousness to him. His grip on my leg tightens and I know he understood my discrete gesture to him.
I give him a sideways glance and he shoots me a comforting smile. I wink at him playfully, but before he can reply Dr. Porter clears his deep throat.
My eyes dart to his face and he smiles at me from across his desk. "You've gotten a wonderful schedule here Ms. Grey, I hope you're pleased." He grins.
I nod, "I am extremely pleased thank you sir." I nervously blurt, afraid he may catch me in my lie.
"You'll really enjoy your Philosophy course, Dr. Mallory is one of out best and brightest." He reassures me and I nod.
"Now Dr. Porter, I have some questions about the rooming situation. Will I be able to get a dorm before Monday?" I ask.
He purse his lips. "We're actually fairly low on available dorms due to your late application, but I figured you'd want to join the sorority that your Mother was in..." He trails off.
My eyes nearly bulge from my head and my jaw drops to the floor. "My Mom? She, went here?" I blurt the question in an idiotic manor.
He smiles and nods. "She was a part of the Prego Beta Sorority sisters, I figured you'd want to follow in her footsteps. I've already talked to the sorority girls and they'd love to have you. Especially since you're the daughter of a legend." He smirks.
"A legend?" I choke.
This is not happening. My mother had a whole secret life that I was never aware of... Or maybe she did tell me I just wasn't listening because I didn't care.
He nods, as if confirming my skeptism.
"Don't worry, you'll have time to meet the girls before you move in. Just because you start your classes on Monday doesn't mean you have to immediately move in. Plan on settling into the sorority house by Friday?" He reassures me, ending his statement with a partial question.
