Chapter 83
Karleigh's POV
It's been a busy, hectic week and now here I am, with my best friend just a few short hours before my flight leaves back to Dallas. I still haven't spoken a word to my mother, nor do I intend on doing so.
"There's one thing we need to do before I catch my flight..." I tell Angelyse from the passenger seat of her Nissan versa. She raises her eyebrows in response, not looking away from the roads.
"What's that?" she asks curiously.
"Turn here." I tell her abruptly, and she obliges.

"I'll give you some space..." Ang murmurs as we near my Father's grave site.
The sound of Angelyse's footsteps beside me disappear, and by the time I reach my Dad's stone, I know I'm alone.
My eyes stay fixed in the marble slab that has my father's name engraved on it. If you ask me, if wasn't extravagant enough for my dad. He deserved better, then again my Mother picked it out so that would explain the low standards.
Kneeling down I set my hands against the cool stone.
"I miss you." I start to say, but already the tears are welling in my eyes.
"I've got to catch a flight back to Dallas in a few hours, but I wanted to stop by. I miss you." I repeat the last phrase again, knowing that there are not enough words in the world to express how much I miss him. My face is hot as the warm tears slowly roll down my face.
"Sorry I've been fighting with Mom, I know you wouldn't want that... and I'm sorry for how I've been acting out." I tell him.
"I should've brought flowers. Fuck!" I curse under my breath, realizing my mistake.
"I start college next week. I wish you could be there to see me, I wish you could tell me that you're proud of me." My voice cracks slightly.
"And then there's Harry..." I start to say but am quickly interrupted.
"Karleigh, we've got to go if you want to make your flight!" Angelyse calls from her car. I nod in her direction and look back to my dad's grave.
"I've got to go..." I whisper and stand to my feet.
My hands shove into my pockets as I make my way back to Angelyse's car. Neither of us says a word when I get back into the car, and the remainder of our drive is silent with the exception of the radio faintly playing in the background.

Angelyse shoves a forkful of pasta into her mouth as she stares around at the busy people shuffling through the airport.
"That's actually a genius game to play." Ang laughs hysterically. "So he actually took you to an airport so you two could have dinner and people watch?" She repeats.
I nod and join in on her laughter. I told her of my very first date with Harry when he took me to an airport with a similar atmosphere as this one.
Looking away from the busy movement of the airport, I look over at Angelyse, who's already staring at me.
"What?" I ask, with my mouth full of food.
She chuckles for a second, before a small frown tugs down the corners of her lips. "I'm really gonna miss you." She whispers.
I purse my lips and stare down at my food. "I'll Skype you constantly, and I'll send you loads of pictures of my college." I say, sheepishly. She smiles and nods eagerly, before taking another bite of her food.
