Chapter 68

Karleigh's POV

"Karleigh... Karleigh!" Harry's voice snaps me awake. Groggily, I swipe my eyes with my hands trying to become more aware of my surroundings.

"Huh..." My voice is sleepy and Harry's eyes are still closed as he calls out to me.

All he says is "Your phone." Then I finally realize my phone has been ringing for the last several minutes.

Jumping up from Harry's hospital bed, I lunge for my cell phone.

"Hello?" I say without thought.

"Yes, Ms. Grey?" A sassy voice says through the phone. Pulling the phone away from my ear I look at the unfamiliar number on my screen.

Who the hell?

"This is she, may I ask who's calling?" I reply.

"This is Patricia, from the university reception desk." The female voice explains. That's when it hits me, she's the jersey-girl who was being a total bitch to me. Why was she calling?

"...okay?" I say.

"Could you come up to the campus today? Administration has reviewed you files." She informs me and my heart rate starts to incline.

"Um, yeah. Yes, definitely, what time should I come?" I blurt.

"Now would be good, if you're wanting to make it before their lunch break." She casually says.

"Alright, yeah, I'll come now then. Thank you." I say before disconnecting the line.

I start gathering my few belongings and I turn to face Harry who is still sleeping in the hospital bed. Bending down to kiss him lightly on the lips, I murmur near his ear.

"I've got to go, call me when they release you and let me know about your results." I instruct him and he gives me a flimsy nod.

"Okay babe." His weak, tired voice replies as I turn to walk out the door.

As soon as I get into my car, I know I need to make a brief run home in order to change and get more presentable. My thoughts are racing through my mind as I debate on what I should wear to the college.

What are they requesting me for? Aren't they supposed to send me a letter in the mail? Worry rises in my chest, but I shove it down as I pull up in the driveway to my Aunt's house. I race up the sidewalk to the front door and whip the door open.

Aunt Jocelyn is no where to be found as I enter the house. Maybe she's gone out on an errand? I could've sworn I saw her car parked out front. Without giving it much more thought, I shove the door to my bedroom open and immediately step towards my closet.

My hands grab for the simple black dress that hangs in the back of my closet. The little black dress is decent enough when worn with a pair of nude colored heels.

With my heels and dress on, I rush to the bathroom, yanking the brush through my hair and not bothering to put on any makeup besides mascara.

When I was satisfied with my reflection, I bounded out of the house, locking the front door behind me.

The college campus had very little activity going on in the area I was located. As I entered the office, annoying Jersey-girl looked up at me through her fake eye lashes.

"They've been waiting. Back room on the left." She plainly states and I follow the direction her hand is pointing in.

There's only one wooden door for me to approach, and I knock nervously on it.
