Chapter 99
Karleigh's POV"What foul language for such a beautiful girl." Harry says, reminding me of the time we first met.
Summoning my sarcasm, I use my exact response. "Well Harry, lovely meeting you."
"Are you this nice to all of the guys, or am I just lucky?" He smiles widely, his dimples showing prominently.
I shurg. "Do you always try to annoy girls who have somewhere to be, or am I just lucky?"
Harry throws his head back in laughter and even from across the parking lot I can see his eyes screw shut in the way that I adore. I can't help but laugh with him.An old man is glaring at us from the sidewalk, but I don't give a damn and I doubt Harry does either.
"I love you, Harry." My lips blurt out, without a second thought.
Harry's eyes gleam and my heart swells as he speaks his next words. "I love you, Karleigh."
Pressing my hand to my lips, I blow Harry a kiss.
That massive hand of his, darts into the air, catching the kiss I blew. He sticks my imaginary kiss into his pocket and I giggle at his adorable motions.
With one final wave, I climb into my car without anymore disruptions from Harry. Both of my hands grip the steering wheel and I watch Harry in my rear view mirror as I drive away.
Auto-pilot takes over my mind as I drive back to my campus. My thoughts run wild and I smile to myself as the memory of the first time Harry and I met, comes back to me.
**Flashback**
"What foul language for such a beautiful girl." The unnamed boy gave me a half-sided compliment that I was unsure of how to take. My lips parted only to close again, not quite sure of how to respond. He smiles a wide smile exposing his shiny teeth and cute dimples.
Who would've known that I would fall in love with that smile and strive to see it as often as I could. Ironic.
"My apologies, I didn't mean to knock that book over... I'm Harry by the way." Harry sticks his massive hand out in my direction and I scoff. His messy curls fall slightly into his eyes and he does a small hair flip, shaking the hair out of his face.
"Well Harry, consider yourself forgiven. Lovely meeting you." I say, sarcasm clear in my voice. Harry lets out a raspy chuckle as I gather my belongings to leave.
A gleam of humor twinkles in Harry's mesmerizing hazel eyes as he teases me. "Are you this nice to all the guys who talk to you or am I just lucky?" I fight back laughter, as I peer up at him.
"Do you always try to hit on girls after knocking them upside the head with books, or am I just lucky?" I asked him rhetorically, tilting my head to the side slightly and crossing my arms. Harry releases a joking sigh and he playfully raises his hands in surrender.
"Wow you caught me, I just happened to know there was a gorgeous girl on the other side of the shelf. You see, I'm a little shy so that was the easiest way for me to be able to talk to you." He says with a laugh that sounds like music. I roll my eyes and smirk.
Now that I know better, I laugh at the thought of Harry being shy, he's the least shy person that I've ever met.
"Well here we are..." I say as I rub my temple feigning pain. Harry chuckles and nervously shoves his hands in his pockets.
Nervous Harry is one of my favorite things in the world, his face is all washed out and he bats his eyes frequently while shifting on his feet.
**Flashback over**
I blink back to reality and focus on the road that's stretched out before me. A few pelts of water drip down onto my windshield with a loud dripping sound.
"Dammit." I groan aloud at the sight of rain. The thought of driving through the inner depths of the city in pouring rain sickens me.
It rained heavily last night, I figured it'd be done but at the sight of the dark grey clouds ahead, I doubt my assumption is likely. Flicking on my windshield wipers just in time, rain gradually starts to pour down harder and my posture shifts as I lean forward for a better view out my windshield.
The rain is coming down so hard that it's nearly white outside, my windshield wipers are swiping at an unreasonable speed. Both of my hands are on the wheel and I'm sitting straight forward in my seat, desperate to see what's going on in front of me.
Looking in my rear view mirrors, all I can see is water spraying out from the fast moving tires of my car. I can hardly see anything out of my windshield, and the only indication that there's a car in front of my is the red lights that are blurry in the rain.
From my passenger seat my cell phone starts to ring loudly in the cramped space of my car. Distracting me for a moment, I glance down at the small device that's resting on the seat beside me.
My eyes dart back up to the road in front of me, trying to ignore the constant ringing that's coming from my phone.
Hunching forward over the steering wheel, I release one of my hands from the wheel so I can reach over and grab the device. Just as I'm doing this, a large fountain of water sprays up onto my windshield from the right hand side. I look over in time to see an almost unnoticeable white car cut me off into my lane, nearly hitting my front end. The car's color blends into the white color of the downfall.
Panicking, I slam on my brakes, to prevent my front end from bashing into the rear of the fucking white car. I don't even have time to slam on my horn as my wheels lock on the slippery roads.
The brakes are locked and my car begins to spin, hydro planing due to the wet weather. I jolted around in my seat as I release a loud echoing scream inside the car. I cannot see what's going on outside of the car due to the heavy rain. The car is spinning at a frightening speed, and I'm slammed into something heavy. A shattering sound pierces my ear and the windshield comes crumbling down leaving gashes in my arms. My whole body slams forward and my face slams against the steering wheel, a crunch sound coming from my nose.
Everything goes black.
