Chapter 93

Karleigh's POV

Class has already started by the time I walked into the auditorium where my class was being held.

Shit.

As quietly as I possibly can, I enter the auditorium through a side door and try to avoid bringing attention upon myself. There is well over fifty kids in the auditorium, possibly over seventy I don't know.

Being the clumsy person that I am, I'm stumbling down the row with every step I take, as I make my way towards the empty seat I spotted.

Just as I'm about to arrive at my seat, my foot gets caught in the strap of someone's backpack and I nearly topple to the floor. Instead, someone catches my arm and helps lift me up.

"Thank you. " I turn to whisper to the unknown person. My eyes land on the face of my savior and my breath is momentarily lost.

"Marcus?" I gasp.

"Karleigh?" He smiles in return, but he's clearly just as shocked as I am.

"What are you.... You go here?" I ask in disbelief.

"Yeah," he rolls his eyes. "My dad kind of--"

"Marcus, is there an issue?" Dr. Mallory calls up to Marcus, from his platform in the center of the room.

Marcus's eyes flicker to me, then back to Dr. Mallory. "No sir. Sorry." He grumbles. Dr. Mallory shoots the two of us a glare before continuing on with his lecture.

There goes my hope of being unnoticed.

I continuously catch Marcus staring at me throughout the lesson, but Dr. Mallory is very intelligent and I admired his topic selection for class today on, epistemology.

In the remaining ten minutes of class, Dr. Mallory has two assistants pass around his course syllabus and expectations. As soon as my hand comes in contact with the thickness of his syllabus packet, I snicker to myself knowing I have no intentions of reading it. The packet is at least five pages long, no thanks.

"Class dismissed." Dr. Mallory releases us finally, after his hour and fifteen minute long class. I glance down at the time on my cracked cell phone screen to see that it's nearly nine'o'clock at night.

"Karleigh!" Marcus shouts from behind me as I rush to exit the auditorium.

"Hey, Karleigh, wait up!" He calls again, this time his hand landing on my shoulder and preventing me from walking.

I plaster onto my face the fakest smile I can muster, knowing good and well that Harry won't like the fact that Marcus attends my college.

"Hey Marcus." I smile.

"So, you go here now?" He asks with a goofy grin on his handsome face.

"Starting today I do." I answer.

"Cool, do you need a ride home?" He offers.

"No, actually I drove and my sorority house is only a few blocks down the road." I tell him in a polite dismissal.

"Sorority house? I didn't peg you as the sorority type of girl." He chuckles.

"There's a lot you don't know about me, Marcus. I'll see you Wednesday." I say, referring to the next philosophy class that we'll have.

I don't give him the opportunity to reply as I quickly turn on my heel and rush to my car that's parked out front.
