Chapter 92

Karleigh's POV

"Is that the last of it?" Aunt Jocelyn asks and I nod while looking over the empty bedroom.

Memories of all of the times I've spent in this bedroom overwhelm my brain, and a bittersweet feeling washes over me. Visuals of Harry and I spending our nights together curled up on that bed, and times when I wasn't the same girl that I am today.

And I wasn't. I've changed quite a lot since I got here.

The last time I packed my bags to leave this room, the feeling wasn't as pleasant as it is right now. Last time, it was more panicked and rushed as I tried unsuccessfully to push every thought of Harry from my mind.

"Are you sure you wanna move today? You could wait until Friday like Dr. Porter suggested..." Aunt Jocelyn trails off, clearly skeptical about me moving into the sorority house.

"It's fine Aunt Joc." I promise her. "I'll meet the girls today and hopefully everything will go over smoothly." I add. If only I were actually as confident as my voice sounds.

Beads of water build in her eyes and I bring her into a hug to comfort her.

"It's fine Aunt Joc, I'll be back Thursday for my birthday." I vow. She nods, her head still resting on my shoulder.

"Harry's helping you move right?" Her voice is choked up.

"Yes, I am." Harry's voice sounds from the doorway. My arms drop from around my Aunt and I look over at Harry.

"Hey babe, you ready?" I smile at him, taking in the sight of him in those tight, dark jeans that I love and that sexy leather jacket he once allowed me to borrow. He's been wearing it a lot more often lately now that the seasons are shifting into autumn and it's getting chillier.

"Ready as I'll ever be." He gives me a sad smile and I step closer to him. My fists grab the flaps of his jacket tugging him closer to me, so I can cover his lips with my own. Our kiss starts to grow more passionate but Aunt Jocelyn clears her throat uncomfortably.

"Take care of my niece Harry, after what happened last time I don't know if I should trust you." She teases.

I know she's referring to the fact that Harry and I both missed her dinner she had at the house with Anne, Robin and Travis the other night. Somehow, I failed to mention to Harry that Aunt Jocelyn was having a dinner, and he ended up taking me to a lovely Japanese steakhouse.

It wasn't until he dropped me off at home the next morning that I remembered Aunt Jocelyn was having a dinner the previous night.

"Aunt Joc, I already told you that was my fault." I groan.

"I'm teasing." She laughs lightly and starts grabbing boxes from the floor to take to Harry's car. Harry grabs a stack of three boxes and I shoot him a cautious look.

"What?" He asks.

"Be careful..." I tell him, remembering how he was complaining about pain in his spine.

He groans, rolling his eyes as if my worries are unnecessary. "I'm fine, Karleigh." With that said, he exits my room with the three boxes in hand and I sigh, grabbing a box near the door and following behind him.

In the driveway Aunt Jocelyn is hunched over in the backseat of Harry's car piling boxes into the seat and floorboard.

"You already dropped Karleigh's car off at the campus right?" Aunt Jocelyn double checks. Harry and I chuckle and he nods.

"Yes my car is at the campus, and Harry is driving me. My first class isn't until later this afternoon so I'll have plenty of time to meet the girls." I explain to her for the millionth time.
