Chapter 4
Harry's POV

I shove my hands in my pockets as I think about everything Dr. Martin told me today. Self pity is not something I want to become familiar with. I shove the thoughts from my mind and try to concentrate on something, anything, else.

As if I was receiving an answer from God himself, the silhouette of a girl catches my attention. I stop in my tracks and stare at the wobbly girl across the street, and my brows dig together.

I manage to jog across the road and before I can stop myself I call out her name. It seems as if she's looking for me but can't find me and I feel confused. I'm right here in front of her, how can she not see me. As soon as I reach her she turns to look at me and nearly topples over, my arm extends on instinct to catch her. I wince slightly as a pain shoots up my arm, I steady Karleigh and look into her eyes. Her blue pupils aren't as shiny as they usually are and I feel myself frowning. What is she doing out so late, and alone? Of course she could be wondering the same about me.

"Karleigh, what are you doing out so late?" I ask her. The stubborn girl pulls away from my grip on her waist and almost falls again. "I'm looking for my car." Her words are slurred and I understand her odd behavior.

"Have you been drinking?" I say to to her. Her eyes don't meet mine, she simply keeps looking around for her car.

"Karleigh you can't drive, you're incoherent. How much have you had to drink?" I question her. Karleigh looks at me, her facial features emotionless.

"Please stop trying to act like you give a shit. I can take care of myself." She says eerily calm. I take a step back and raise my eyebrows.

"I see you want to do this the hard way!" I state clearly and she looks confused.

"Excuse m--" before she can finish her response I pick her up and sling her over my shoulder.

"What the hell!" Karleigh screams and I fight back laughter as I begin walking to my car.

As we approach my car, Karleigh's no longer screaming, thankfully. I set her down lightly on her feet, keeping one arm looped around her waist to prevent her from falling. My skin is tingling where our bodies are touching.

The passenger door to my car swings open and Karleigh sits down inside without putting up a fight. Good.

We both remain silent for majority of the drive and finally Karleigh glances over at me. "I don't usually go home with guys on the first date, you should feel lucky." She teases in a monotone voice.

I chuckle slightly, "Well if it makes you feel better, it was basically against your will." I reply. Karleigh stays silent for a few more moments.

"Where are we going?" She asks in a soft voice, her head leaned against the window.

"To my place..." I say without looking at her. She doesn't answer just nods her head slightly.

When we pull into the parking lot of my apartment building Karleigh hesitantly stands up. "You good?" I ask her jokingly serious.

She shrugs and follows me into the apartment on her unbalanced feet. The lights are off inside the house, but I don't bother to turn them on as I lead Karleigh upstairs to my room. All I need is for Niall to wake up and start asking me twenty questions about Karleigh. Karleigh places one of her hands on my shoulder for me to lead because she's already uncoordinated as it is. When we enter my room I close the door behind us and flick the lights on. Karleigh blinks a few time allowing her eyes to adjust to the brightness. I point to my bed and Karleigh glances over at it with a questioning look.
