(Aww yeah, with a prompt like this, you knew it was going to be tooth-rotting sweet time. Honestly I've been looking forward to writing this)
The only other thing that the two were really looking forward to, was dancing together. Mark would never admit it, not to anyone, but when he was younger he'd loved dancing. He'd been able to loose himself in the song, and on days when everything seemed out to get him, it was all he really needed. When the time came, that was honestly the only real reason he went to his senior prom, especially since he was fully aware his date was only going with him because no one else had asked her, and she was trying to get back at her ex anyway.
Jack just wanted to dance with Mark. Unlike the American, he'd never gone to his prom. What was the point when he'd just gone through a pretty bad break up, with his girlfriend that he'd been with since the start of secondary school? He'd broken up with her, there were too many reasons to remember them all now. He'd ended up staying home, binging his way through something on tv, and eating ice cream. Wasn't she supposed to be the one with a broken heart?
The first time they danced together though, was when Mark had been curious enough to see if he could still get lost in the music the way he used too. When Jack had gone out shopping, Mark turned to his phone, scrolling through the songs. Eventually he chose "thinking out loud" and when the song started, he tried to remember the steps he used to know. He probably looked stupid, he thought, dancing with air like this. However, to the Irishman he hadn't noticed watching, he was amazing. Jack had managed to finish shopping, and when he'd arrived home to hear a familiar song playing from their shared bedroom, he'd decided to investigate. Watching his boyfriend, no, his fiancé dancing around as though the music was in his blood. Jack couldn't stop himself clapping when the music ended. Mark jumped at this, quickly turning scarlet, until jack laughed quietly at his reaction.
"I didn't know you could dance" he grinned "when did you learn that!"
"A long time ago" Mark admitted sheepishly, and Jack smiled again
"You're still great." He shook his head slightly "what am I going to do for the wedding?i can't dance!"
Mark bit his lip slightly, unsure of why he was nervous "I could teach you"
Jack's eyes lit up as he nodded, and when Mark put another song on, he happily let Mark wrap his arms around the Irishman's waist, and Jack wrapped his own arms around Mark's neck. Mark led, and slowly Jack got used to the feeling of it. He loved it, he didn't get lost the way Mark did, instead he was paying attention to everything. How he could feel Mark's heartbeat through his skin, how Mark was quietly singing the words. Jack sighed contently, resting his head on the older man's shoulder. When the song ended, the two stayed in each other's arms for a while longer.
"Do you remember doing that at prom" Mark asked "when it was you leading?"
Jack shook his head "I didn't even go to my prom. Messy break up, long story". Besides, not like anyone would have asked me."
Mark sighed, pulling back slightly and looking into Jack's eyes, smiling
"I would have asked you, if I'd been there at the time"
Jack smiled back at him "and I would have said yes"

FanfictionHey, I write this pairing a lot, and I figured I may as well have a book to write them in, since most of them are like 1 chapter.
