Jack sat at the window, watching the small ball of light outside slowly getting bigger. He felt tears in his eyes, and made no effort to hide that he was crying.

If the world was ending, a few years wouldn't change anything.

He was scared, more scared then he had ever been, but he supposed that was expected, because he'd never been in a situation like this again, but then he'd never be in another situation. He wasn't angry like he expected to be, he didn't want to punch something or hurt someone because the world was ending and sow one had to pay. No, instead he just sat at the window and watched, crying as he thought about everything. This was the end, the absolute, the finale of everything and everyone he'd ever known or loved and he was petrified, and yet, in a strange way, he was ready. Maybe that's because in the time he'd spent watching it all, another figure had walked to him, wrapping one arm around his waist, and wiping away his tears with the other.

"I'm scared Mark" he chocked out softly "I'm so, so scared"
"I know" whispered the American, holding his husband tight and running his hand through his soft green hair. The situation seemed too dramatic to talk at their natural volumes, it felt like in their final moments, hushed voices and tight hugs were the best thing to do. "I am too"
"H-how long do you think we have?"
Mark cast a glance at the rapidly growing dot in the sky, burning and angry as it blazed towards earth, ready to Annihilate it. "I'd say 5 minuets at most"
Jack nodded sadly, looking up at the other man
"Mark, I-if we're really about to d-die" he whispered "I want to go in your arms. It's stupid and cheesy I know b-but"
Mark picked him up and carried him to the sofa, lying down and hugging him tight to his chest. Jack burrowed his head into Mark's chest, and Mark moved one hand to stroke his hair, because it has always calmed the Irishman down before. He knew that now there was nothing that could calm him down, but at least it would make their last moments comfortable, domestic even, as though in a few minuets time they'd still be alive and everything would be OK. He looked down at the broken man in his arms and started singing to him, his mind running through everything about Jack, about them, that it could pull to memory now, because Mark would be damned if he forgot a single detail now, he wanted to remember it all.

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine"
"Mark" the Irishman laughed, running away from him with a smile, as Mark chased after him, laughing just as much. Jack stopped, hiding in a clump of trees, thinking he was safe, hidden, until something lifted him off his feet, and started twirling with him.
"Mark! Mark put me down" he laughed, eyes closed and with a huge smile on his face
"Never!" Mark replied, as Jack wrapped his arms around his neck "if I'm holding on to you, I don't have to let you go. And I promise" he kissed jack's cheek, smiling "I'd die before I did that"

"You make me happy, when skies are grey"
Jack jumped as the thunder crashed outside of his window again, hiding his head under the blankets like a scared little kid. Mark's smiled slightly as he watched the Irishman shaking, and in a heartbeat he wrapped his arms around him, hugging him to his chest and stroking his hair, just like any other time he needed Jack to calm down
"Hey, it's ok" he smiled "it's just a storm, it'll pass, just breath for me ok? In and out, in and out"
Jack nodded, snuggling his head into the american's neck "I-I'm fine!" He muttered "I-i just don't like storms"
"But why not" Mark asked "without the rain, we wouldn't have rainbows or the little drops you collect in your fingers the next day. The flowers wouldn't grow properly and the forest we go to all the time would be dead."
Jack nodded weakly, and so Mark continued
"And the Lightning is so beautiful. It makes the sky glow like it's being lit up by a tight little cluster of stars for a few seconds, then it just fades away again. And the thunder is cool too, it's like there's people in an apartment, wayyy up in the sky, and they just spend all their time tap dancing, so it's really noisy"
Jack giggled quietly at this "you love storms, don't you"
"Yeah" Mark nodded with a smile "but not anywhere near as much as I love you"

"You'll never know dear, how much I love you"

"It's beautiful here" Jack sighed, leaning back into the soft white sand below him, and watching as the sun dipped lower into the sky "why don't we come here more often?"
"Because" Mark smiled, leaning back beside him "it wouldn't be special if we came here all the time, and tonight has to be special.
"Oh yeah" Jack smiled, rolling over to face him "why's that?"
"Well" Mark grinned, standing up and getting on to one knee "I thought you'd want to remember the day I asked you to marry me, at least, if you say yes"
"Oh my god" Jack whispered, eyes watering as he flung his arms around Mark, tackling him back into the sand and kissing his face. "Yes! Yes yes yes yes yes! I love you!"
Mark couldn't stop the smile on his face as his wrapped his arms around his fiancé, kissing his lips happily "I love you too"

Planning the wedding had been a pain in the arse, but the moment the priest pronounced them to be married, it was all worth it, and later that night, as Mark held Jack tight to his chest as they danced, he'd never been more in love in his life.

"Please don't take, my sunshine aw-"

In the end, even though everything was gone, and Earth was blown to nothing, it didn't matter to Mark, or even really to hack, because in the last second before everything ended, they'd been together. Eyes closer, tangled in each other's arms, and neither of them would ever have the to live a day without the other. Maybe the worlds end wasn't a bad thing, because now, as Jack walked into the apartment, and saw Mark sitting on the sofa with gizmo and chica curled up on either side of him, and a little girl sitting on his knee who turned to him and held her arms out to her 'daddy' He smiled. he'd never have to be alone now, closing the door behind him and carefully fixing his wings, he happily ran towards his family
