(Idk if this counts, but Mark and Jack as parents is cute in itself, so it counts to me! Also, yeah tomorrow won't be smuttyness, just your regularly scheduled fluff. Oh, and we're almost at 10k reads... What!
as I say every time I start being all soppy and thanking you guys for reading, this has a HUGE impact on my self image, and my ability to say 'hey, you're not completely worthless' but Since This started improving my self esteem, however slightly, something else improved.
I haven't seen suicide as a good choice for myself in almost 2 months. Thank you wattpad)Sam was the perfect fit for their family. Adoption had been a long, painfully slow process, and more than once they'd been denied, just because some people didn't view them as a family capable of having a child, because apparently families were straight and nothing else. It had taken almost a year to get accepted, but when they did, Mark and Jack both agreed it was worth it. Sam was everything they'd wanted in a child, she was almost always happy, always giggling or wanting to play, and she saw good in everyone. Sometimes it amazed Jack that this little five year old wasn't biologically related to them, she was always so energetic, or making stupid jokes or laughing at her parents stupid jokes. Mark and Jack adored her.
As much as he'd never admit it, Mark was terrified he'd screw this up. Sam was 5. She was a small child, and she was partly Mark's responsibility. He didn't for one moment regret getting her, the kid had glided so seamlessly into his life that he couldn't fully remember when she wasn't there, it was more that he didn't want her to regret being chosen by them. Jack on the other hand, surprised everyone by slipping into the father role without much of a problem, which is why Sam quickly identified him as something safe. He became the person who knew how to fight off the nightmares, and the person who knew how to describe terrifying things like storms and darkness in beautiful ways, so that Sam grew to love them almost as much as she loved her dads.
Mark first realised they'd done something very right when it was his turn to pick her up from school, and a small, home made card was quickly thrust into his hands.
"I know you're not a mother, but everyone in my class was making cards for their mommy's and when I told my teacher I didn't have one, she told me to make one for you and daddy." The little girl beamed up at him, and Mark started to register what the card was. It was may, and the little card's message, coloured in with bright markers, read happy Mother's Day. He had to fight to stop himself from crying right there and then.
"I love it princess" he grinned, lifting her up and sitting her on his shoulders "come on, let's go show your daddy, hold on!" She laughed as Mark started running, keeping hold of her legs to stop her from falling. The first time jack realised they'd definitely done something right, was when he, Mark and Sam had gone out to the park. He and Mark had their arms around each other, as Sam ran a little way ahead of them. Someone had said something along the lines of "that poor girl, being raised thinking it's ok to be like... Them" and as much as Jack has wanted to reply, Mark shook his head and he bit his tongue. Sam however, turned towards the voice, and loudly replied "it is ok. My daddies are great daddies, and they love each other and I love them. You're just a meanie!" She'd stuck her tongue out and ran back over to her parents, smiling. Jack was very, very proud.
To be honest though, their favourite moments with Sam were the ones spent tucking her into bed, or watching her fall asleep against one of them watching to, because it was so quietly domestic, and it felt so right. In moments like that, Mark and jack fully realised, they had a family now. It was such a small realisation compared to everything that happened, but it was one of the happiest realisations they'd ever had. Neither of them could imagine the way her life would turn out, but whatever happened, they wanted her to be happy, because she was theirs now, and they'd both do anything for her.

FanfictionHey, I write this pairing a lot, and I figured I may as well have a book to write them in, since most of them are like 1 chapter.
