(Au where Mark is blind, and has been since birth. I don't know how he and Jack met since technically no he's not of YouTube... Shut up)
If you asked Mark what the worst thing about being blind was, he'd say that it was how he never got a clear idea of how anything looked. People would describe things in such different ways, a happy person would tell him that the grass was soft and still sort of wet because of the rain. It was a bright colour, and there were thousands of little pieces, all growing together. But an unhappy person told him it was muddy. Cold sludgy brown from last night's downpour. This upset him, more than never seeing his friend's faces, because it was a horrible reminder that no two people saw the world the same way, but he wouldn't see it at all. To mark though, the worst example of this was people describing themselves. Friends of that person would call them amazing, talented, cool, pretty, and then the person the self would do nothing but put themselves down. Jack was the very worst example of this to mark. Mark had managed to fall for the Irishman, without ever seeing his face. He fell for the laugh that instantly made him happy, he fell for the voice that was louder when he was excited, he fell for the way he described the world, always so bright and beautiful. The only thing Jack never described like that, was himself. If Mark asked him what he looked like, he'd just say he wasn't anything special, and would describe himself as such. Mark ended up asking Felix instead, who told Mark exactly how the Irishman really looked, so he got a perfect image. At one point, Mark was talking to Felix, when the conversation turned to Jack.
"It's awful." Mark signed "he always talks about the world like its this beautiful amazing place. He talks about it like it hurts him I'll never see it. But then if I ask him ANYTHING about himself, he acts like its the one thing he's glad ill never see. I'm crazy about him Felix, why can't he see himself like I do? It's my biggest aim for life now, to get him to talk about himself the way he talks about the rest of the world."
Unknown to Mark, Jack had been walking past the room and Felix had frantically beckoned him in, so he'd heard Mark saying he was crazy about him.
"Are... Are you serious Mark" Jack asked, a small smile starting to form on his face, tears in his eyes. Unknown to the other two, it was the first time anyone had talked about him like that.
"Yes I'm serious. It's horrible hearing you put yourself down and then make everything else seem so beautiful. I've never seen you, but I know you're gorgeous."
And that's the point that Mark and Jack had their first kiss.It was years later when someone made an experimental procedure to give Mark the chance to see for the first time. Mark and Jack were a couple by the point it happened, and when Mark woke up in the hospital after the attempt, the first thing he saw was Jack, smiling back at him. He rubbed his eyes, unable to believe them.
"I knew it." Was the first thing he said, and Jack raised an eyebrow, confused
"You knew what? Can you see or not?"
Make nodded, smiling bigger than ever
"I knew you were gorgeous"

FanfictionHey, I write this pairing a lot, and I figured I may as well have a book to write them in, since most of them are like 1 chapter.
