Starkit didn't know why she was so upset, but she knew that it wasn't a good thing for there to be lesbians.
"What's wrong, Starkit?" asked Redfur as she licked Lakepool on the muzzle. "You're just a kit. Why do you hate the idea is us being together?"
"Because being lesbian is wrong!" Starkit shot back, her fur bristling. "It's against the ten commandments!"
"How would you know of the ten commandments?" Lakepool questioned. "You weren't here for that."
"I know," Starkit growled. "But I somehow know about it."
Lakepool shrugged, not knowing how to respond. "Well, the ten commandments aren't real," she meowed, "and that's why Redfur and I are together."
"Come back to the nursery with us," Redfur insisted. "You're too young to be out of the nursery for long."
"No!" Starkit snapped, refusing to be exposed to lesbians.
She then ran out of camp and into the forest, Ashkit chasing after her.
"Wait, Starkit!" Ashkit called out. "Why are you so upset?"
"I'm being raised by lesbians! What do you think it is?!" Starkit cried back.
"Well, come over here," Ashkit yowled, slowing to a stop. "Maybe we can help them see the light!"
Starkit stopped and giggled as she padded back to the flecked tomcat.
But then, another cat came through the forest. It was Jazzsong!
"Jazzsong! What're you doing here?" Starkit gasped.
"It's Jazzstar. Didn't you hear that I got made leader after Gleamstar's death?" the reddish she-cat replied. "It was a tragic death."
"Who's Gleamstar?" asked Starkit. She knew the name sounded familiar, but she just couldn't put her paw on it!
"It doesn't matter," Jazzstar meowed with a shake of her head. "Let's return to camp."
"Yay!" Ashkit cheered as him and the others went back to camp.
"Now, go see Redfur and Lakepool," Jazzstar ordered kindly. "They'll be waiting for you."
"Fine!" grumbled Starkit. "But I'm not going to like it!"
SIX MOONS LATER
"Starkit, from this day forward, you'll be known as Starpaw!" announced Jazzstar. The Clan cheered her name.
"Your mentor will be..." Jazzstar meowed. When she said the name, Starpaw's eyes widened.
"Noo!" the she-cat yowled.
