Despite Daniel's protests, Jack, Henley and Merritt had insisted that they accompany us to the address on the card. I'd sat listening to them argue about it in silence until Henley pointed out that it was safety in numbers, and Daniel finally fell silent. Giving in to the fact that no matter what he said, they were determined to accompany us.
I smiled at Daniel when he took my hand and squeezed it as we walked to the address. Eventually we reached the address and gazed up at a block of flats.
"It's 6A." Daniel stated.
"This seems a bit dodgy." Henley piped up.
"It could be a trap." Merritt pointed out.
"No, we need to do this." Daniel insisted.
"What do you know that we don't?" I asked Daniel as we climbed the stairs.
"Nothing." he said quickly."You're a terrible liar." I said quietly, gazing at his face. My stomach churned as we continued climbing the stairs. We were engaged to be married and would soon be having a child together, so why was he lying to me? What could he possibly know that he didn't feel able to tell me. He glanced at me as I quickly let go of his hand and continued walking in silence.
"Congrats on the baby by the way." Merritt stated.
"You told them?!" I rounded on Daniel.
He opened his mouth to answer but was interrupted by Henley.
"No, we were there when Jack announced it remember." she said.
I nodded slowly, with all the drama that had unfolded I'd completely forgotten that they knew.
"I'm predicting a boy." Merritt smiled.
"Okay then I'll guess a girl." Henley joined in.
"I've got a feeling it's a girl." Daniel stated.
"What about you Jack?" Merritt chuckled.
Jack shrugged as his eyes quickly flickered to mine.
"Amelia?" Merritt asked, giving up with Jack.
"I don't really care." I said quietly. I could feel Daniel watching me closely as silence fell.
"I think this is it." Jack announced as he pointed at a door.
Merritt nodded and slowly opened the door. I started to follow him but stopped when Daniel quickly grabbed my wrist.
"Get off me." I snapped.
"Let us check that it's safe first." he said quietly, sounding slightly offended by my tone.
I glared at him and quickly pulled my wrist from his grasp. He stared at me for a moment, clearly wondering what he'd done to annoy me. I was still struggling to deal with the fact that I knew he was lying to me. I quickly followed Merritt inside and gazed around at the dark flat. I slowly walked into the bathroom and frowned as I saw an FBI badge on the bathroom shelf.
"Guys, we need to get out of here." I whispered picking up the badge and walking out of the bathroom. Jack walked over to me and quickly took the badge from my hand, my skin tingling as his fingers lingered on my hand for a brief moment.
"You're right we should go." Jack agreed.
Daniel, Henley and Merritt nodded and we turned to leave, stopping dead in our tracks and gasping as we saw Dylan standing by the door.
"What do you want?" Daniel said sounding slightly angry.
"I need to speak to the four of you." he answered.
I rolled my eyes and wandered over to the window seat and sat on it, stretching out my legs. Dylan clearly didn't want to speak to me.
"Do you have another task for us?" Henley asked.
"No, I wanted to apologise about what happened, and to check that Amelia was okay." he stated, sounding slightly guilty. I quickly looked up as Dylan glanced at me.
"She almost died because of you." Daniel snapped.
"I know, the officer has been suspended, I had no idea that he would shoot an unarmed suspect." he countered.
"That's not the point, we were lucky that we managed save her because it's not safe for us to go to the hospital." Jack stated.
"I know and I'm really sorry, how are you Amelia?" Dylan asked me.
"Fine." I said shortly.
He quickly looked away from me, clearly feeling guilty as I glared at him.
"We did all of these shows for you, so you're supposed to protect us." Merritt joined in.
"I know, and that's partly why I called you here." he stated.
"What do you mean?" Henley asked.
"Well I saw on the last show that you and Amelia got engaged, so I was thinking that I could set up a distraction for the FBI so that you can have a small wedding and invite your family members." Dylan explained to Daniel.
"Why would you do that?" Daniel asked suspiciously.
"To make it up to you, consider it my apology." he answered.
"What do you think Mia?" Daniel asked, turning to face me.
"I don't know." I shrugged, still gazing out of the window.
"You'll need to give me a date, so that I know." Dylan tried again.
Daniel raised his eyebrow at me and waited for me to answer.
"Do you have a date in mind?" Daniel prompted me.
"Nope, can't we just wait a while?" I asked.
"Wait for what?" Daniel frowned.
I glanced up at the others as they looked between the two of us nervously.
"I don't know, but I don't see why we have to get married right now." I sighed.
Daniel fell silent for a moment and pondered my words.
"You don't want to get married do you?" he whispered eventually.
"For god sake Danny, just stop putting pressure on me!" I exclaimed, quickly standing up and leaving the flat, slamming the door behind myself.
