I sat up slowly, wincing at the stabbing pain in my abdomen every time that I moved. It felt like someone was stabbing a knife in my stomach and twisting it. Henley smiled warmly at me as I glanced at her and blinked quickly, trying to focus my eyes. I gazed down at my arm and saw that I was on a drip.

"How are you feeling?" Henley asked me.

"Fine." I said quietly. I was feeling anything but fine. Not only did I have the stabbing pain in my stomach, but my heart was hurting too. Nothing would ever be the same again, and I had no idea how to find the words to tell Daniel. He would be just as devastated as me.

"The doctor said the surgery went well and you should be on the mend soon." she said happily.

I nodded slowly, even though she knew that I had to have emergency surgery she didn't know the details and she had no idea of the repercussions.

"I'd better let Daniel know that you're awake." she replied, quickly standing up and leaving the room.

I watched her for a moment through the window of my room as she called Daniel. Even thinking about Daniel was causing my eyes to fill with tears, I'd let him down and he deserved better. I curled into a ball and pulled the duvet up over my face, desperately trying to hide from the world and everything that had happened. If I laid here alone for long enough, maybe I could escape into a dream world and never have to wake up again. I closed my eyes tightly, desperately trying to shut out everything.

"Daniel wants to talk to you." Henley stated. I jumped as she spoke, I had no idea that she'd come back into the room.

I sat up slowly and sighed as she handed me the phone.

"I'll give you guys some privacy." she mouthed, before quickly leaving the room.

"Mia?" Daniel questioned, sounding slightly panicked.

"Yeah I'm here." I replied quietly.

"Are you okay?" he asked, the concern present in his voice.

"Yeah." I muttered, biting my lip hard to prevent myself from bursting into tears. Somehow hearing his voice made me feel even more vulnerable. I wanted him beside me, to be able to curl up in his arms as he held me tightly. To be comforted by the soft sound of his hearbeat as I rested my head against his chest.

"Is everything okay with you?" I asked quickly.

"Yeah we're fine, just all worried about you." he answered.

"And the baby?" I asked.

"He's sleeping upstairs." he told me.

"I really wish I was by your side." he sighed.

"I know." I whispered.

"Henley said the surgery went well." he said quietly.

I fell silent as his words cut in to me. Unbeknown to him he'd opened up the wound and rubbed salt in it.

"Mia, are you okay?" he asked, clearly concerned by my silence.

"Yeah, .....I'm.... fine." I muttered, my voice breaking slightly.

"Are you crying?!" he exclaimed, sounding slightly panicked.

"No." I lied as I sniffed and quickly wiped the tears from my cheeks.

"Oh Mia." he whispered softly, clearly not believing my lie.

"Danny....I'm so sorry." I sobbed, completely breaking down as I finally gave into my feelings I'd been trying to supress.

"You have nothing to be sorry for baby, this wasn't your fault." he sighed. I could tell from his tone that he was wishing he was by my side to comfort me, in the same way that I longed to be with him.

"Danny....I love you so much." I whispered.

"I love you too, I wish I could be there for you." he said quietly.

I fell silent for a moment.

"I'm coming to the hospital." he stated.

"No, you can't!" I said quickly.

My heart began to pound at the thought of him coming to the hospital. As much as I longed for him to hold me, I hated the thought of him being in danger because of me.

"You need to stay where you are safe and take care of Cameron." I quickly added.

"But you need me." he protested.

"I'll be fine, I've got Henley." I said quietly, managing to keep my voice level.

He paused for a moment, clearly trying to decide whether to believe me or not.

"I hate this, I'd do anything to turn the clock back and not get involved with all this horseman crap." he muttered.

"What's done is done." I sighed.

"I'll be discharged tomorrow, so I'll see you soon." I said quickly, trying to get off the phone before I burst out crying again.

"Okay." he said reluctantly, I knew how he was feeling, just being able to hear his voice was a comfort.

"I love you Danny." I said before quickly hanging up.

AN: Okay guys so I had an idea for a sequel but I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it into a story but fingers crossed I can figure it out ;)
